Nice metaphor for religion and how impossibly difficult it is to influence the actions or beliefs of some people with deep seated faith.

To win at their game, I have declared-not interested. Simply shut the windbag off. It worked.
It is diffi-cult to have a logical and rational discussion with a witness, as they are living in a fantasy world, a trance-like state. If they could "snap" out of it, then reason may win.

LOL. I was about to say, "No it's not! They don't even know the rules of the game!" You beat me to it, buster.
I believe. But I also play by the rules of logic. Those who are playing by faith just ain't gonna get it.
That's a little too accurate to be funny! (But it's funny, too)

What I try to do when I'm discussing something with a believer (which is often, since I live in a small southern USA town) is I try to explain the rules as we go along. For instance, I'll stop the discussion and say, "That's a Strawman argument." then explain what a strawman is and why it's fallacious.
Doing this sometimes slows down the conversation and makes the other guy flustered, but hey, if we're "playing chess" we are sure as hell going to play by the rules!
Your move...

IMO it's that way when enter into a discussion with anyone who has a closed mind and firmly held beliefs. Nothing you say is going to change their minds. It's why I rarely bother anymore.
Isn't "King Me" from checkers and not chess? I've not heard it referenced to chess anyway.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. :)

Yes, the guy doesn't even understand what game he is playing.

I was going to say its like playing checkers too..........they jump you and jump you till they become king, and you die! (or become dead in their eyes)
