When in Michigan, I miss the characters of the south. SW Michigan is full of the most reserved people I've found anywhere.

KNoxville is full of amazing characters and some of the friendliest people you'll find on this earth. One guy kept calling me sugar plum. I loved it. I wanted to fry him up some chicken.

Git R Done!!! I think it's not so much Americans as it is Southerners. I thought Jeff Foxworthy was funny, then I moved to the South where his jokes are making so much more sense!!! The man that does maintenance on the newly built homes inour neighborhood could be Larry's twin.

This guy remind me of growing up in "little Tijuana", UT. This is MY childhood.

Which him are you referring to? I don't find Larry very funny. His humor is what I call potty humor. I do find Bill Engall and Jeff Foxworthy funny. I was watcing Bill Engall the other night. He did a parody of the popular house make over shows. He remodeled and decorated a family's mobile home. It was so funny. But yes, unless you live over here and visit the south, you probably aren't going to understand this humor. Just like sometimes we don't understand dry British humor. I love Monty Python and Paul Hogan's old comedy shows that predate Crocodile Dundee. Not all Americans get MOnty Python's humor.

I love, love, love Bill Engvall! I like Jeff Foxworthy and I like Ron White, especially if his swearing is toned down. I don't care for Larry the Cableguy. His humor is not my style.
When I travel by myself or just with the kids, I listen to a few CD's of theirs to help me laugh my way through a few states. It is great. I've also borrowed some of my dad's Jerry Clower cassettes. Southern humor is my style. I was raised in the north, have now become a Damn Yankee, but it's in my blood. Somewhere there must be some rebel ties! I may not have married a southern boy, but we sure are raising one! His accent is very pronounced already! My hubby's family has mostly moved south too. There's just something irresistible down here.
Flying high now- you've got me concerned! We are considering a job offer in Alabama, please tell me not all of them are like Larry! LOL!

I love the humor of Jeff Foxworthy, but he scares me. I find too many similarities between his jokes and my parents

Back when I was a kid in SW Michigan it was red neck heaven... Not so much nowdays. GR and Holland have always been a bit stodgy with that Dutch Reformed vibe. Between the hill jacks and the Germans... strudel and grits..what a neighborhood!

Berrien county... back in the 60's ... well lets just say if your porch collapsed dogs would be in danger.

Lansing and Detroit were populated with a lot of southerners too.

Many of Michigans best and brightest bailed during the black tag exodus ..70 to 80. There has been a steady trickle south ever since.
