Then I had lasik. This is the greatest! No lenses, no glasses, no muss, no fuss. Perfect vision, should never be near-sighted again for the rest of my life. I may need some assistance from reading glasses in about a decade, but that's way better than bifocals.

I had Lasik done this past May and *gasp* I'm approaching 40! There may come a time I need reading glasses, but that far outweighs not having to wear glasses or contacts all the time.

Love being able to wake up and SEE! Love being able to swim and see the bottom (well there are sometimes I don't want to see what's in the lake with me). I love coming in from the cold and not have my glasses fog up. I love to play volleyball and basketball and not have to worry about my glasses. I could to on and on, but lets just say I LOVE not wearing glasses constantly!

I always get in trouble at my yearly opto visit because they can tell I haven't been buying enough contacts to keep up with my weekly/monthly whatever type I have.

I've worn contacts for 24 years (WHAT??? for pete's sake, that's older than some people on this board!). I keep them in 24 hours a day, change them only when they feel a little gritty and then I STILL feel bad about tossing them in the garbage.

I think I must have pretty tough eyes for all the abuse I've given them.

Come on...be a rebel, wear your contacts longer than you are supposed too. It is very liberating

I'm cheap too and I wear mine for as long as possible. Till my vision is blurred or they tear and/or irritate my eyes.

I think as long as you clean them regularly you can wear them well passed the 2weeks.

My optometrist says that as you approach your 40s you shouldn't consider lasik because you will soon have to wear glasses again.

And my candle guy bitched and moaned cause I decided to install electric lights...

GET IT DONE it's the best thing I've EVER done for myself! G is getting it done next month! I had mine done almost 8 years ago and still have 15/20 vision. Do it as soon as you can! I don't care if you have to do dispicable things to get the money it is ABSOLUTLY worth it!

I wore the gas permeable rigids for years. Never any problems.

Now that the daily disposables correct astigmatism I use those. The great thing is if you forget to take them out, there is no harm done.
