Deceiving new Bible studies. The stunning craftiness of WTBT again.

Has anybody still got copies of the old "Truth" book, the "Live forever " book, and "Bible Teach" book?

I threw them out, and regret it now because a sudden chilling realization came to me posting on another thread:

Do you remember how in the 70s we were told to encourage the new study to compare what the NWT says with what is in his own Bible? Especially if he had objected that the Witlesses "Have their own bible?" The aim was to get them using the NWT as soon as possible.

"What does YOUR bible say?" we were encouraged to ask.

"Well, the same thing IN SO MANY WORDS." Here is the craftiness:

Once that idea was planted, that the NWT said the same thing in so many words, the Gofor was gulled into thinking that every verse in every bible said the same "IN SO MANY WORDS " as the WT Bible.

Notice how in the early chapters of the books for new studies, there are NO scriptures with controversial or ambiguous meanings. Verses quoted really DO say the same thing in the other bibles.

"Eve ate the fruit", "thou shalt not kill" "this gospel shall be declared" etc.

Now that the study is convinced that the WT bible is the same as all the others, he will happily switch to using it, and become lazy about checking with his own. At this point in the book, the scriptures which have been deliberately MIStranslated in the NWT start to creep in, or the verses which have a word in brackets cunningly inserted to influence the understanding of the Gofor.

Unfortunately, I no longer have these books, but would appreciate those with copies to check the early chapters - I remember the training. Maybe a search of old Kingdumb Miseries will show the "PUSH to NWT" I remember from my youth.

Blondie (OXO) will almost certainly remember this

The WT never trains the witlesses what to say with no ulterior motive.

When I was studying I didn't have a Bible but remember being told the only difference was the NWT had put back the name Jehovah in its rightful place. Liars!

    They certainly are crafty.

You are correct. I know this to be true from my own memory, but I will check it out.

I remember there was nothing controversial (John 1:1and 8:58 perhaps?) mentioned in those initial "studies."

They are indeed masters of craftiness, but they're going to be caught in their own doing. Karma has an extremely hard bite.

It is so sad how we unknowingly fooled others.

Those bible study books are well worded to suit the evilness of the WTS.

This is where I differ with Don Cameron's view that 'they' don't know what they're doing and are 'captives of a concept'. Seems to me 'they' MUST know in order to slyly guide a prospective student into 'WT-think' by way of this disingenuous practice - it is VERY clever and secretly manipulative - well-documented by-the-book mind control techniques! The same way 'they' craftily revise their own books and history. It takes a devious mind(or in 'their' case, a meeting of many deviously devilish minds) to think-out how to get from irrational assertion to 'reasonable proof' in the twisting and turning way 'they' approach interpreting scripture and world events.

I did not know; I was sucked in; I DO know now and I'm outta there. The thing that humbled me most was that flash of real truth(you know it when it happens!) that told me flat-out: I don't know nothin'. I thought every tiny thing coming from the Society sparkled like a diamond - it was so clearly Truth and nothin' but.(why couldn't EVERYone see that? lol) I thought I was smart to have chosen the 'correct' religion "...oh yes, you are really studying 'berean-style' and finding out The Truth for yourself! You are progressing nicely and so intelligent, why, you pick-up on these Truths right away!" Stroke, stroke and you have a new baptism candidate that's just swallowed all the lies without a burp! I can still barely believe I believed some of it - was not born into it - I chose it.

It helps my own ego to know we were cleverly deceived by extreme cunning and that I'm among a growing number walking out of the fog. But I don't know if I'll ever get over the fact that I was SO thoroughly led SO astray! I wasn't nearly as smart as I thunk I was... damn gullible in fact. I guess that even acknowledging that is a huge life lesson though, huh? We've learned something here, now we need to find ways, which I think we all are, to benefit from that lesson.

From the bottom, looking up - a whole new perspective to explore!

Keep revealing and uncovering - the time for transparency has come - no more delusions!

Back in the 70's we had an elder in our congregation that began to compare the NWT to another bible. He and his wife would sit during the meetings and use this bible," In Living English", I believe it was. He was a very bright man, had been to bethel for a few years. Anyways, he would use this bible in his talks from the platform. We all began to talk omongst ourselves that he was not toeing the line, company line that is. He then would make comments to some of us in private about differant books that he had been reading. He was definately "apostate" we thought.

Now, in retrospect, I can see just what he was doing. He got SMART!!! he eventually moved out of state and only then did they announce that he was no longer serving in the cong. He and his wife and children eventually just dropped out. Good for him. Too bad some of us didn't listen to the Apostate back then, instead of criticising him.

I had a "study" last year, and they lied to my face about things that only a JW would know. Once they found out they couldn't hoodwink me, they moved on to greener pastures.

Hampster ~ i should have those books, or at least some of them, pm me your address if you want and i can send them.

hmmm, as far as things being different, i haven't noticed to much between bibles... a few things though. for example, nwt states john 1:1 differently, however, in another scripture in the nwt, peter calls jesus god also... is it a matter of them covering something up? i'm not sure... its something I still have to research...

what other things have you noticed being dif between bibles? i would like to look it up and compare.... thanks!!!
