The honest truth is that anyone could auxiliary pioneer, if they wanted to. However, that doesn't mean they should do it.
There is only one reason why you should auxiliary, or for that matter regular, pioneer. If you are getting value from doing so in excess of the total cost, then you should do it and the reward will be the value you get in excess of cost. If the total cost exceeds the total benefit of doing it, you should not do it and the penalty will be the excess cost above and beyond the benefit.
That is not that difficult to understand. I learned that in college economics class, and it made so much sense that I probably learned more of it on my own than through that course. But, people do not understand that principle--out of a possible 60 points, I took an exam on that course and got 54. The mean was in the lower 30s, and many people got scores well down in the teens. Which means they have a very poor grasp of cost/benefit of doing anything. No wonder so many people get suckered into this scam!
Before turning in that aux pio form, ask yourself honestly what benefits do you actually and realistically expect to get from putting in pioneer hours. Then, ask yourself honestly what the costs you will incur. What projects will become more expensive or extensive if put off. What about the health costs, such as sleep deprivation and eating Big Macs and Whoppers every day? How much is it going to cost for gas and wear/tear on your car? Other money expenses? How much do you dislike knocking on doors all morning or afternoon in cold and/or hot weather (it will get hot by the end of May)? Is there other activity you could do more profitably that you will have to forgo if you turn in that slip? What about having to worry about stumbling others more? These are just some of the possible costs to think about before turning in that form.
If, after you add it all up, the total cost is less than or equal to the total benefit you realistically expect to get from pioneering, then by all means do it! The above listed conditions that the Watchtower Society has listed should not stop you from pioneering, if the cost of doing so is less than the total benefit. However, if the total cost exceeds the total benefit, it will be stupid to pioneer even if you do not fit into any of the categories that the Watchtower Society has listed. Only you, not the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger class, not the hounders, not the hounder-hounder, not the other pioneers that want you to join, can make that decision for yourself.
And, if you cannot figure out whether the cost exceeds the benefit or you do not understand, I strongly suggest disobeying the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger and taking Economics 207 anyways. The course may be available online. Make sure you put your all into it, because this course will teach you about cost/benefit and is essential to avoid this kind of blatant scam.

LOL @ Confucious:
People who Own Pets
Yeah, that'll probably be on the list next year.
No wait! Get rid of your pets! Then you'll be able to "make room" for pioneering.
Connaughty:
What if you don't want to Auxilliary Pioneer?
THAT, my friend, is the elephant in the room. IMO.
You're not supposed to ask that. Now you won't get called on for at least a month.
WTWizard:
I enjoyed your "Economics of Pioneering" mini-seminar. I think this is one of the best points you made:
Is there other activity you could do more profitably that you will have to forgo if you turn in that slip?
I think they call that "Opportunity Cost" don't they?
That's probably the biggest hidden "cost" of being a JW, much less a pioneer, IMO.

i made the mistake of doing it once and never heard the end of it....... every "memorial season" the pioneers i had worked with that ONE time were all over me like white on rice to "get that pioneer spirit"..... def there is a class of "hounders" that wears appropriate and modest dresses
chickpea ( of the lazy b@stard turned apostate class)
