I swayed cause I was rocking the baby to keep them asleep... swaying and bouncing. I got so used to swaying after 4 babies that I found myself doing it when they were older. Just a habit..
How's baby Noah? Love to you and your family Karl.

I don't recall ever seeing anyone sway whilst singing a kingdom melody...it seems that it was something that was just not done...too worldly. Now at my church there is swaying, jumping, and dancing during praise worship (singing), more joy more fun.

Of course we swayed!
And the particularly theocratic would get out their lighters, flick em and hold 'em high.
Especially during Free Bird.
Wait, you mean at meetings?
No, never. Boooooring!

amen to that sistah!.... i got so used to swaying that once in a check-out line, the woman behind me said " you must have a baby" and i was thinking "great! i have spit-up down my back", but she said she noticed i was swaying whilst standing in line.....
It's because were still on auto pilot from trying to keep the babies happy and quiet.
If you watch at assemblies, you will see countless young parents swaying and bouncing during prayer and song, even when they are not holding a child. Sometimes many years after holding a child.
I cought myself doing this countless times, that's what started me noticing that I wasn't the only one.
BTW, it really is pretty embaressing to briefly come out of the hypnotic assembly trance, to realize you are bouncing up and down for no reason.
It seems there were various reasons for swaying and that some of you did not sway...how dares you not sway
Anyhoo, yes Megan and Baby are doing great Juni, hope your well
Maybe my congregation was just un-naturally spiritual or maybe we were suffering from earthquakes...
I used to sway a little, just to try and put a little "soul" into the funeral dirges. My friend and I used to privately tell each other that we wished we had music like in the baptist churches! That might have been worth sitting through the rest of it for.

A sister I knew had just come from Africa to England said she wanted to sway along with the songs but her new British African husband said ' we don't do that here' so she had to stop. She said in Africa the songs were harmonized and people swayed/danced along. In our congregation it was dismal. Especially the elders...I think they just moved their lips. They all looked liked they had swallowed embalming fluid. Sometimes there would be a sister who would sing out, determined to be joyful, but she would just bring attention to herself and look ridiculous. Its true for me too. Holding my child or someone elses child meant I could sway.(sway away the tedium.)
I don't remember swaying while pretending to sing that sxxx. But, then again, I didn't sing it either.
Once I had kids I started swaying and dancing with them for a bit-o-fun. As well as making up my own rude lyrics and singing with the kids. Not horribly rude - just potty humor that kids like.
