Your story about your father unfortunately is a similar one that you hear quite often here, families broken up , marriages broken up and destroyed

all over a bunch of bad corrupt businessmen who base themselves in Brooklyn New York, what a terrible waste of human endeavor and purpose.

Because of this high control group it can be extremely hard to keep a close and loving kind of relationship with even are immediate family members

but thats the thing were faced with. But nevertheless this is a good place for information and a good place to voice your own viewpoint.

On top of it all, and the thing that bothers me the most, I am a failure in my fathers eyes.

This really troubled me too. However, prior to being d/f I have a few chats about why I believe the WTS to be a cult, raising issues that were very difficult for them to address. Then, in the only proper conversation I have had with my father since leaving I told him that I forgive him. He wanted to know whatever for. I explained that I forgive him for raising me in a cult, and now shunning me in favour of the Watchtower Society. I understand that he was only 20 when he converted, so was vunerable at the time, and the way he acts is not his true personality, but how he has been trained to act.

My change in perspective has helped me cope, and the situation is now that he has to justify himself to me, rather than the other way around.

Oh and by the way, what Nosferatu says is true... this board started as a forum FOR Witnesses, BY Witnesses... and by discussing things... the light, may we say, did indeed get brighter! The original threads are still here... knock yourself out and go back and read them someday.
