They probably got their "library cards" mixed up again, and forgot that they weren't in the UN library, but the mormon library..
And, who worries about facts anyway.. Mormon, JW, Jeremiah, Jehovah, it could be a simple misprint <G>...

Here's a link to the original article, with no mention of Jehovah's Witnesses:

The news isn't surprising to chaplains, spiritual counselors and staff at Catholic and Jewish hospitals who've always incorporated spirituality into patient care."We've known it all along," said Steve Roberts, co-director of the Samaritan Counseling and Education Center in Colorado Springs, which offers spiritual therapy to individuals and churches. "We just haven't had the research."

Baloney.....haha!
There is something to be said for having a belief..period. It can help you through losses in life etc. It applies to all belief systems IMO...including Catholics etc. It is not just a truth thing.
So far as the WT is concerned...how do those who have lost loved ones because of dodgy doctrinal stuff feel......
ie...transplants, blood , neutrality...much more.
Check out the suicide thread!

Thanks for the link, Ginny. I'll read this over. I already have read an article on Jehovah's Witnesses and Mental Illness, which presented the view that our religion is detrimental to our mental health, so I'd be really interested in seeing studies/information that present the reverse view too.
Troubled,
You're welcome.
I think "Research suggests spirituality can be good medicine" would be a better title for the article. Belief and belonging to a community seem to be the significant factors, not a specific religion. This also appears to be the case in the article about prayer:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=15219&site=3
Beliefs can have both positive and negative effects, which need to be carefully weighed. A person can believe that God will listen to prayers and heal. A person can also believe that he is sinful, wicked, worthless and not worthy of help. A religious community can cut both ways, offering understanding and support or condemnation and shunning.
Only you can decide whether the JW religion is helpful or harmful to your mind, body, and spirit.

It was only a skitt, folks
I didn't expect so many to take it so serious.

J-Dubs don't live longer, it just seems that way! Someone had 2 say this..it might az well be me. But, it iz TRUE, just think how long an hour lasts at a JW meeting,or any Dub meeting..forever man, forever!
Hi Jemimah! I see you got to the internet cafe. Im sorry to change the subject of this post but I knew you would be checking it frequently. Regarding the IBSA post you made a few weeks ago, Cath.-Evn.(ECT) union? Sorry to be cryptic, but you'll know instantly what I am talking about if I am on target. Take care, Dino
Witnesses don't participate in any of these studies or any study done by outside sources. I would really like to see the results if there was some honest research done on them without any influence from the Society.
