Our calender is a catholic invention. It was started way after jesus's supposed time. It was supposed to start at the time jesus was born. However, they later decided that their calculations weren't accurate, and so, we have jesus suppoesdly being born in the bc, before christ.
Putting numbers on time is purely arbitrary. It is whatever time everyone agrees it is.
