    Moman,

The WTS was not a member of the UN.

Yes Fred, we know the semantics...not a member, associated, bedfellows with...you get the gist....or is the library card a good enough explanation for you.

But really, I don't care about it. My reason for leaving wasn't doctrine, but hypocrisy and a lack of love, which seems to be quite general across the congregations, and I've seen many. There's always counsel to not be stumbled by brothers, but when it's all the brothers, some of whom are supposed to be anointed, then that's where the facade crumbles.

Next time you're hauled before a JC for sleeping with a whore, Fred, try using the library card excuse; try saying that you weren't "joined" to the harlot, but merely "in association". I've got news for you Fred, it won't work! There's two sets of rules in your org, one for the big boys, and one for R&F cannon fodder expendable types like you. Just pray you're never discovered to be associating with us here!

    G'day mo;

ill look for an opportunity to raise it with an elder tonight in the back room as we are tendering to our kids in hand, and report back.

We are in a relatively liberal and open minded cong, but i think it will create a one browed raise because i get the feeling from small discussions with others there that no one has ANY idea about the matter.

More than 30 years ago I tipped off the conductor of the finnish WT-study that there is a passage that is not translated properly and that I had notified local BO (body odour eh?). The sunday came along and at that particular question I did not raise my hand. Yet I was pointed to answer. I said that quoting what was printed on our "Vartiotorni" it looks as.... Finally I had scent from body odour admitting that this passage was wrongly translated. I mentioned this to the person in question. All he said was "so what?"

In a moment like this one is easily rendered speechless - so was I.

    Fred said:

    "Moman,
The WTS was not a member of the UN."

Then neither is ANY religion on earth, because religions cannot be "members". They can only be NGO's..

So, Fred, are you willing to admit that ALL religions are not members or in association with the UN?

    Yes or No?

If the answer is Yes, then you are correct, your member comment is 100% accurate without any "double meanings", and of course, it would be hypocritical of the WTBTS to make any derogitory remarks about any religion on earth as to being members or associated with the UN

If your answer is NO, then you will have to admit that the WTBTS did exactly the same stuff as the other makor religions of the world, and as such the WTBTS would be hypocritical to make any derogitory remarks about any religion in relations to the UN from now on..

So, which way would you like it, Fred?

I tried a more sneaky approach a few years ago. Knowing that personal doubts would land me right into the backroom in two seconds flat, I phrased a question I had as one that someone in field service had asked me. I can't remember which question I came up with at the time, but the elders response was that obviously a person who had a question like that didn't really want to learn and I shouldn't waste my time with them.

So I guess I don't really want to learn and I shouldn't waste my time on myself.

Now I save most of my questions for my hubby. Of course, he freaks out, but at least he understands that I do not want to talk to the elders about it. And, I know deep down that when I finally take the plunge my discussions with my husband will also end. Can't talk about spiritual things with an ex-JW, you know.

So if anyone is thinking of bringing this matter up with their elders, I suggest you consider the consquences first. Count the cost, so to speak, and make sure you are ready.
