Anyone attending the Memorial this year? (page 2)

I have been tossing this one around awhile. If I lived in the same town as my mom, I would probably go with her for her sake. In fact, the only reason I am considering it is for her.

I always told my younger (nonJW) brothers when they used to go once a year for JW ~~Easter~~ Memorial, that "what was the point, kinda hypocritical". Guess now the shoe is on my foot.... so if I don't go...then I expect the end to the last of my few JW friends...then they will know for certain that I am serious about not going back.

If I did somehow get talked into it by mom, I could go to my old local KH where they don't hold any sway over me, just show up and go out to eat afterwards, but refuse to talk about anything JW related (not that we ever did after anyway...)

So, I dunno...Memorial is on a Saturday this year, right? So I cant really use school as an excuse. Only if mom asks me to go will I even think about it...

I don't want to though. ::::sigh:::: any advice?

I haven't been to that wastefest since 2005, and I am not going this year (unless they physically and forcibly drag me in). To me, it is totally without value to be going into a packed Kingdumb Hell, be told where and with whom to sit no matter how early I get there, and then listen to a boring 45 minute talk and watch a plate of crackers and a glass of spoiled grape juice go around the place. And it will cost me the time I would have had to do other things.

And if I do get forcibly dragged in, then whoever drags me in had better prepare to wear that wine on his nice white dress shirt. I intend to dump that glass on his shirt on purpose, and I will not pay a penny toward any cleaning bills from the resulting mess. I also hope to break the glass on purpose in the same incident, resulting in broken glass ground into the carpet. The intent is to ruin the carpet, running up expenses and causing them to have to cancel a boasting session...or two...or three...
