    PS.

Look at the Google ad at bottom of the thread:

Samson Ultra Juicer Directory Of Samson Juicer Deals. Find Samson Juicers Quickly.

I guess twenty archers could be considered as Samson Juicers.

I guess twenty posters hammering jibes at Samson, long after he is gone, could be considered as Samson juicers also.

Look at the rules of warfare at the that time period of history.

    okay.

Samson killed 30 random guys for their clothes. They did not provoke him. He simply needed to pay off a gambling debt.

The Israelites crossed the Jordon and killed every man woman and child in Jericho without provocation.

King Saul threw a spear at David and then went on a long manhunt for a national hero, with no provocation at all.

The warlock Elisha had a buch of Baal wizards killed simply because their pyrokenetic skills were inferior to his.

The Philistines burnt Samson's father in law and ex-wife to death. When they didn't do anything at all. That is also murder in cold blood.

There were no rules of engagement in the Bible, even for "Gods chosen people."

Every nation kills it's enemies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execution_of_Saddam_Hussein

Why have a trial? Because if they were just eliminated, worldly outcry would condemn the US and would outdo the atrocities that the terroists committed.

But that was not a problem in Bible times. There was no Constitution, or internet, or tv, or radio, or newspaper. People didn't care when their enemies were killed.
And if anything the Bible says about Samson was true, he should have been killed on sight, even by our modern standards.

Why couldn't the opponents of Mike Tyson, get some of their friends to shoot Mike before their champion lost the fight?

Mike Tyson didn't kill over 3000 men women and children. Samson did.

Mike Tyson is not a threat to national security. Samson was.

If Mike Tyson behaved like Samson, I wouldn't complain one bit when the government had him shot.

There were rules of engagement back then just as there is today.

Well, I'm no expert on ancient rules of engagement (though Lore delightfully points out some problems with this premise), but if there were then we'd also have conventions to prevent the gouging out of eyes of our prisoners, yes?

Well, there's a fascinating study of contrasts in ch. 8 and 9 of Joshua. In the first, the Israelite army entraps the city of Ai's army by faking a retreat, drawing them into the open, and the Israelites thereupon exterminate every man, woman, and child in the city. Then in the next chapter, Joshua is prevented from killing off the Gibeonites by a ruse they pulled on him; the "rule" here that constrained Joshua is that he made an oath to his god to spare them, even tho he was unaware of who they really were. Joshua could not slaughter them as he killed all the other Canaanites...that would have been murder. So even in the bloodthirsty book of Joshua, it depended on the situation.
