It was the talks about Jehovah's organization. Whole-souled loyalty to the organization, and no questioning the organization. There were a large number of parts that kept talking about the organization to the point that they seemed to devote as much devotion as Jesus or God.

They are supposed to be a 'channel' providing food, and not accepting any devotion.

Any talk that made broad and general statements that all "worldly" people had no moral sense and therefore were evil, liars, fornicators, drug users, thieves, etc etc. Honestly as an employer I saw more of these traits among JW's as opposed to the non' JW's. Any talk from the current CO about personal preferences such as sport coats, white shirts only on brothers etc etc. The worst one was when a CO was dead against sat morning book study. I'm sure everyone has heard the talk about the holy spirit not being spread out evenly over the week if all the meetings are bunched together. (gag)

It was not the content of the talks, it was the way the speaker could break the applause-O-meter just by Pitch Power and Pace

Like a lot of Witnesses in my congregation, I blamed the local tyrants for the arrogance and the attitude. Then I started hearing it from podium, and began to wonder if they were adding this stuff or if it was coming from the Society. Soon, I started seeing it in the freakin' Watchtower magazines! That's when the balance began to tip the other way for me.
