As far as I know the Christian belief system started prior to the breakup which resulted in the Orthodox and Catholic Religions. All Christian religions are offshoots of these two organizations. THere is nothing new . All the religions that exist today are the result people's dissatisfaction with the status quo of their time. Some are more moderate in their dogma and others are not. You will note all these so called "new Christian religions" are founded on a single persons interpretation of the Bible. Only the Jews and the Muslams seem to keep their basic religious beliefs intact. I don't know about Buddists. Does anyone know when the Catholics and Orthodox started.

Armstrong actually denied ever being a Seventh Day Adventist or a Jehovah's Witness.

Very interesting. I wonder if he protests too much? The following states quite the opposite, and seems to have quite credible data:

I am sure further research could verify this or not.

Thinking further about Armstrong's apologia, could it be that he there was capitalizing on a technicality -- that the "seventh-day" Adventist group that he was associated with was not Ellen White's group that themselves adopted the name "Seventh-Day Adventists", but they are sabbath-keeping Adventists nonetheless (Church of God, Seventh Day), which he neglects to mention?
