What is Heaven?

Come to think of it, heaven (as a metaphysical place where God resides) if it exists will be an unexpected bonus.

On the other hand, Hell (as a metaphysical place with eternal torture) if it exists will be a bonus too. After all, if I go to this 'Hell' I'll still be alive, for all eternity to boot. I'm sure that after a couple of billion years I'll have gotten used to the pain and won't even notice when they gough my eyes out for the trillionth time. I wonder if the punishment can be said to fit my 'crime'?

(since there are so many posters here now that are unable to discern humor and takes everything literally and are offended at the drop of a hat: This post was slightly tongue-in-cheek, but with an edge. Thank you.)

Most people misunderstand what is heaven according to the Bible . Why ? Because the Bible is the most difficult book in the world to understand and God Yahweh who gave us the Bible kept secrets of the Bible from mankind for ages !

You will not come to the right understanding of the Bible - a level acceptable by God - unless you are a chosen one of God.

The heaven the Bible speaks about is not an invention of man as it is beyond human comprehension.

The place that was above the earth was called heaven and people could ascribe to that term "heaven " variuos meanings .

Since the New Testament era the heaven took upon a new meaning of a perfect condition.

Jesus Christ can be, say, on another planet in some other galaxy and yet we may say he is in heaven meaning he is living in the perfect condition.

Where such perfection is present there is the heaven .

"The new heaven" will be on earth in the Paradise :

Jesus Christ and his 144000 servants will constitute that new heaven and they will live in perfect physcial bodies called spiritual. It means they will live in the perfect state. In them God Yahweh's presence will be the highest . They will be the highest heaven - representing the highest level of perfectness given by God Yahweh.

So, rememeber now the heaven has another meaning a spirutual - agreed upon - meaning . It is a condition .

But if there is a god and he and the angles are invisable how do you expect to see heaven from a space ship?

Anything is possible. But the fact that it's possible that it's invisible certainly doesn't prove anything either. Just another possibility on the table.

It is obvious in this thread that the definition of Heaven, all based on the Bible, varies between religions and people. The only proof is in the Bible. This provides more ammo that proves that no one really knows, and we won't really know until after we die.

Pastor Ed Young explained it like this: According to 2 Cor. 12:2, there is a third heaven, meaning there are at least other two. One heaven is the physical one where we exist. This includes the universe too. Another heaven is where the spiritual beings exist. This includes angels, cherubs, Satan, etc. The third heaven is where God resides and where Jesus is preparing a place for those He is taking with Him.

No, heaven is not a myth but it is beyond our ability to comprehend it. Heaven is the dwelling place of God but it is not a physical place since God created all things physical (i.e. the universe). We can't explain it because it is beyound our ability to understand it.
