  Obama Campaign Theatrics

  A Wall Street Journal writer, James Taranto, has uncovered a hilarious and puzzling coincidence at 5 different Sen. Obama campaign speeches over the last few months, including the recent speech in Seattle.

  Dori and listeners have found one other Sen. Obama incident posted on YouTube.com where a person near the stage in the crowd faints. Sen. Obama seemingly responds to each incident with the same routine and response.

  Is it phoney, orchestrated, manufactured campaign theatrics or is it merely physiological coincidence? You be the judge.

  It's hard to tell. His rallies have been the most jam-packed and exciting ones, so between the heat and excitement I suppose it could cause a spell in those disposed to faint. Those nearest the stage probably were the ones standing the longest.

  This looks like a perfect example of 'Stand Alone Complex'

  One person faints during a speech by Obama, and he shows her special attention.

  Millions of people see this, a lot of them really love Obama, he's like a rock star. So in attempt to connect with him, they go to his speeches and faint.

  The combined effect of all these copycats working alone, makes it apear as if it was a contrived and organized plan.

  Maybe it is the "bobby-soxer" syndrome. A lot of young girls used to "swoon" over

  Frank Sinatra in the 40s. I saw it happen. Didn't happen to me because Jehovah didn't want me to honor men. hee hee

  Seems like it is young girls that are fainting.

  I went to an Obama Rally when he came to our campus (I was only in line for 30 minutes, some of my friends for 6 hours though...). I follow alot of his coverage so I've heard most of his speech highlights, it was just nice to hear him speak in person. However there was an 'obamican' in the audience and the women's basketball team was also in the standing and he spent a few seconds joking around with them , it did feel a bit contrived but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, All in all I don't think his campaign was necessarily faking it. I'm glad he won my state by double digits though, lets see if he can keep the momentum.

  I think the number of faintings is probably proportional to the number and size of the rallies, and I think Obama and Hillary have been having a huge number of rallies because of the very tight race. Obama's rallies get into the tens of thousands (21,000 at the rally in Seattle), so I think it is bound to happen.

  The Army tells it's troops that are standing in formation to NOT LOCK YOUR KNEES. Locking your knees when standing for long periods can cause you to faint. Also, people with health problems shouldn't be standing near the stage. They're liable to get their breath knocked out of them!
