IT HAS BEEN CLAIMED THAT THERE ALWAYS BEEN A GOVERNING BODY,SO WHO HAS BEEN MEMBERS SUPPOSEDLY OF THIS GOVERNING BODY IN THE PAST.

    Not sure that's accurate.

It's always been claimed that there have been anointed ones though.

    Any references?

It's an interesting conversation for sure.

The big question to ask is why didn't the first "governing body" continue to pick successors?

This is a question that has never been discussed in Watchtower literature. Their lack of comment shows what a stretch it is for them to compare their modern governing body to whatever happened thousands of years ago.

The Watchtower has struggled for years to find groups that represented the anionted....but this has not been sucessfull. There are NO records of groups simular to the Witnesses from 100C.E to 1880.

If you look at the "Jehovah's Witnesses -Proclaimers" book the history starts in the 1st Century....Martin Luther?.....Charles Russell....????

The wt has mentioned groups like the waldenses in their older lit as being part of that chain. They later stopped, though. Being specific only gets them into trouble. Safer to be nebulous. The catholic church obiously has the strongest line of direct descent. The baptists even have a better descent line that does the wt.
