One of the founders of the JWs here worked for the American Tobacco CO. in Reidsville NC. He invented several of the machines that made the cigs. He had a lot of money. There were two other JWs that worked for that company. Two of them died before the command to quit the company. The other one quit the tobacco company after the borg told him to. He was married to a daughter of rich one who worked for that company. The one who invented several of the machines died at a circuit assembly we were attending in Asheboro NC. He had heart problems.

One of those barns is less than a mile from my house.

It looks just like the one in your picture, Ken.

I thought it was for curing ham until I read this thread.

My grandparents grew tobacco for many years. My dad grew up on the farm. However soon after I was born, the farm was sold, and my grandparents bought a restaurant and motel.

I've often said, I'd like to purchase on old kiln, and refurbish it into a little cottage or art studio. There are still a few of the old ones left, here and there....the new kilns are ugly.

Delilah, there are several around here that have been converted to little homes.

    Ken,

What a beautiful picture! I LOVE that stretch of road. It's soooo pretty out there. I think old barns are so lovely.

We went driving out there a few months ago and I took a few pics as well ^^ Here's one I took:
