Happy Birthday!! I just had mine on Sunday :)
I'm not dreading 30 like I expected to. 27 was the first really good year of my life, 28 got better... and I have high hopes for 29, 30, and on. As I get older I feel so much more comfortable in my skin and with my life.
Then again talk to me next year, everyone says it will hit me harder than I anticipate. lol
You guys have so much to look forward to, your young & vibrant, 30's are a great time. Wait till you hit 50 then it'll be "oh my god " I'm half of 100.

Happy Birthday, Nos. This forum is one day ahead in its age calculations. (As if we needed more age added to our life.)
Anyway, turning 30 was a bigger deal for me than any other age was. I don't know why, except I realized I wasn't a kid any more.
Now I think 30 is a really great age -- it's a good combination of youth and experience (well, in many people it is).
Another thing I remembered was my 20th birthday. What a mess that was. Me and my dad weren't getting along and I was spending most of my time at my girlfriend's place. But my dad demanded that I come home for supper every day after work.
I remember the bottle of wine on the table, and he wished me a happy birthday. I knew it was just a bribe that I would stay home that night. And he never celebrated any of my other birthdays since my mother became a JW, so why should he start celebrating now? What a mess. I took off after supper to my girlfriends place to have my real birthday celebration. I eventually moved in with her and her dad when things got bad at home.
Now I have my own home, and apparently my brother's coming in to help me celebrate. In other words, we're gonna get tanked, complain about my mother, and my brother's gonna get all sentimentally drunk. Good times!
