growing up of course as a jw child - birthdays couldn't be celebrated because the only instance of a birthday was when john the baptizer had his head cut off. sooo... seams like "the memorial" shouldn't be celebrated because jesus was murdered. just a thought.
thought of birthday rebutal

A JW would argue (quite effectively) that Jesus said to memorialize His death. They miss the point that we are not commanded to BUT NEITHER COMMANDED NOT TO observe the anniversary of one's birth.

The Bible's only reference to dogs are negative.
Deut. 23: 18 Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog , into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God.
1 Sam. 17:43 And the Philistine said unto David, [Am] I a dog , that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
Prov. 26:11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, [so] a fool returneth to his folly.
Rev. 22:15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying
And there are other verses too, none speak well of dogs.
So shouldn't JW's "take the hints" from their Bible and ban dog ownership? (They took the hint with birthdays, you know.)

only 1 haircut was mentioned in the Bible...that of Samson. It led to very bad consequences for him.

Not too long ago I told my parents... you dont celebrate birthdays yet you celebrate anniversaries... arent anniversaries the same thing? also you celebrate baby showers.. what is so wrong with celebrating the birth of the child that you so nicely celebrated for before being born? is being born a sin that makes the celebration bad?
