Here is a classic example of where they write a fallacious article. Yoga is a wide range of exercise that involves stretching, not holding one's breath to the point of fainting. Meditation might be part of it, which serves the same purpose as prayer (to calm one's mind).
Then, based on the erroneous article, they scare people into thinking it's bad and dangerous. Of course, it is banned because it has some tenuous relationship with some Eastern religion. There are other exercise programs that are banned because of martial arts--I heard of someone that got into Tae Bo to lose weight and get in shape, only to be hounded into quitting it because of its link to some Far Eastern religion and martial arts.
The real reason for the ban is that the Watchtower Society wants all its machines out in field circus all the time. Yoga can take 20 minutes or longer at a session, which is 20 minutes that cannot then be spent out in field circus. So, if you take away the yoga, you get the extra field circus (and more injuries, since the stretching in properly done yoga can reduce the likelihood of getting hurt).

So once again we ask: ‘Can yoga be practiced simply as a physical exercise to develop a healthy body and a relaxed mind, without any involvement with religion?’ In view of its background, the answer would have to be no.

A number of JWs do yoga in their homes but don't tell anyone unless they think you are open-minded enough to "get it". At least I knew several of them.
