The cruel and merciless Sword of Shunning held over the heads of the rank and file JW is what gives the org. it's membership stability.
The blind loyalty of a single person - a mother, father, husband, wife, or grandparent etc. can keep 2, 3, 4 10, ? possible doubters holding their tongue out of fear that their lives will be turned upside down by shunning. It works.
This is an organization held together by fear, not love.

If only the JW's could see why so many Df's JW's are not at all unhappy with being on the outside.
Did`nt Ray Franz say,"Jehovah`s Witness`s are a fear based religion".??................Moshe..JW`s,"do" see all the unhappy Ex-JW`s.....If Ex JW`s were doing Gods Will and providing Free Labour for a multi-Billion dollar publishing company,the WBT$.....The Ex-Jw`s wouldn`t be unhappy anymore.....The WBT$ says so!................

It doesn't start out that way....but after years of being a JW you start to have little questions, and then realize that if you dare to ask someone for an answer, or mention that you don't agree with recent "new light" you will be making a problem for yourself.
You realize that it is all too true that you could be df'd for voicing anything remotely not towing the WT line.
That's when the glue starts to feel sticky.....
For the mostpart it's true, but I believe that fear of the unknown is the "krazy glue". Not being able to face your own demise is the hook that locks most into the prison watchtower.
Nobody said the WT wasn't smart.
Their methods are actually bordering on pure genius.
Disfellowshipping and the subsequent shunning is a powerful weapon.
Think about it.
Anyone who points out any mistakes or deception on the part of the WT is a hated apostate from Satan.
It makes it pretty hard to get through to anyone.
Anyone who gets turfed - you can't talk to.
