You Wouldn't See This Today In The Cong.

    Hi All,

I've been looking through some old pictures and I came up with this one.

Could you imagine what the elders would say if someone with an army uniform went preaching door to door today? Notice the phonograph player and the book bag. Remember the the record of Judge Rutherford saying,"Religion is a snare and a racket."?

This brother was in NC at the time and later moved to Orange California. His name was Garland Cook. He had an airplane and I flew with him over the area in 1966. That was the last time I saw him. He is probably dead by now. His father ran a little store about 2 blocks from where I live now. The Kingdom Hall was in a room beside his store and I gave my first KMS talk there at seven years old. I stood on a wooden box so I could see over the stand. Back in those days we usually met for meetings in someones house, this store room was really an improvement for the meetings. This was in the 40s.

Remembering with tears, missing my parents.

    Hi JT,

When I first logged onto H2O I was undecided as to my view of religious truth, whether JWs were right or wrong. I hadn't attended meetings for over 20 years, but I wasn't sure what I thought of the "truth" so my handle was Undecided. I'm still undecided as to God, life, and the future. I'm beginning to develope an agnostic view of things. I don't think I will ever be decided(sure) of anything, since the more I look the more questions I have. I have almost abandoned the bible as a source of religious truth and think that all religion is just made up from man's desire for life after death. I guess I will have to wait and see if I wake up after death.

    Still Undecided,

    Ken P.

Some explaination: When I was 7 I couldn't compose my part on the KMS. My mother wrote it out by hand and I just read it from the podium. Boy was I scared. Still remember that and that's about all I can remember from that KH. I have a picture taken beside the hall and just about all the ones in it are dead. Where is Armageddon? All the hopes and dreams are gone as well as most of my childhood friends and family. It's sad to think back to those times.

Thanks for sharing your memories Ken. My parents were from the same era. I heard many similar stories. My mother was a JW when the work was banned - many interesting experiences were told to me about that.
