Howdy! don't let them guilt you into going back into the org! In fact, stay away until you are firmly set on some other path.

Billy the Ex-Bethelite
I was fortunate enough to be able to move to the UK for further education and since she was no longer around, I stopped attending meetings.
... and so many JWs would think that someone like you went off to college and then left the truth. Frankly, most mentally leave "the truth" long before college. Anyway...
Welcome to JWD MisfitMel ! And PLEASE go to ApostaScotland in my place ! I love a good brew and have a pair of legs that look great in a kilt !

If you really don't want to feel guilty and worried anymore, If you haven't already, stop believing in some Guy in the stars that can see everything you do and can read your mind.
You will be amazed of the freedom you will feel, I know it is tabo to talk about. It took me almost 2years to grasp the fact that maybe there is no God,
Most people watch what they say when it comes to is there or is there not, Just in case he may be watching. ( case and point )
Seeing is believing , Freedom is a decision away.
ps .Could somebody tell me where the hell spell check is .

Don't worry about that MisfitMeL. I'm shy (maybe the WTS lifestyle has something to do with that?) and it will be my first get-together with ex-JW's. Anyway, I'm sure all who are going would make you very welcome. There's a lot of understanding around here.
If going appeals, give your shyness the finger and go for it. :)
Thanks for the encouragement!
Well there's over a month to go, so I just might turn up

Thanks for the welcome guys! Didn't think so many people would reply!

I don't think I could ever go back to the Org, although I wouldn't underestimate the power of guilt!
I have a feeling, if I was ever found out, I'd probably be DFd for being a stubborn apostate
Dealing with my mum is a different kettle of fish though. Deep down I still feel bad to disappoint her. She doesn't realise what I do, and to her, this means everything (pretty much like most JWs), so letting her down is going to be a big issue... Oh well.. I guess we can't please everyone!

Hello Billy!
You're right... A lot of youngsters would probably drift away sooner if it wasn't for the constant pressure of parents dragging us to the meetings. I lived a double life for years before I finished school and moved away! Yet I'm sure when family friends back home hear about me it will be "Tut tut! She had to move for education and look what happened to her! The wordly system took her away ... her mother must be so heartbroken... and she was such a nice girl too! "
I must be an even worse case, because not only did I leave home the first time to do my Bachelors, but I also decided to leave home again to do my Masters! Oh the horror!! The only person who seemed openly hostile to this was the POs wife. If anyone else disapproved, they certainly didn't show it... a few actually were enthusiastic and encouraged me to continue with my plans!
