My car only uses super. That averages between 3.45-3.60 a gallon in Los Angeles. I drive 25k miles a year. It sucks

My son's answer to that was, he'd be glad to pay $10 per gallon if he didn't have to pay property tax. He's paying almost $600 per month just for the privilege of living in his house--on top of a house payment. Do you have property tax in the UK?

Just explain "property tax" a bit more. What's it for? We may have an equivalent here called Council Tax
Out of interest, what's the value of the property and how much is the "house payment"?
I find comparitive living costs quite fascinating - how some countries "value" certain "commodities" differently to others.

One thing that folks may not do when considering the cost of fuel is also compare the Miles Per Gallon (MPG) that their vehicles get.
Here in the states, there are many gas guzzlers called SUV's - also large pickup trucks. These things are gigantic vehicles - and usually get just over 10mpg - if that.
My VW beetle (New Beetle) - gets over 40mpg - somewhere around 45mpg. I can go about two weeks between fillups - if I don't take an excursion on the weekends that drain my tank a wee bit more.

The Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger doesn't have to pay it. Thus, they are going to tell people that they do not want to see hours of field circus going down, nor do they want it coming out of the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund. They don't know what it's like to pay $3+ a gallon on a window washer's income, part time, and still have to put those $100 bills into that box.
I guess they are going to require people to go into debt to finance it all.

Well... the price increases are starting locally...
Today - diesel at two stations was at 3.799/gal
Yesterday morning (and evening) it was 3.699/gal
The day before - it was 3.5999/gal
They are going in ten cent jumps - overnight. I can understand if the fuel truck delivers a new load of fuel - the price may increase - but diesel - locally - does not sell that much. They are still using the same load of fuel - and just increasing its' price by ten cents every day.
I didn't know that this practice was legal.

Peak Oil folks. It isn't going to get better soon. The only thing that might possibly drive the prices down in the near term is a global recession.
