snowbird, are you a writer? You could be!
Yes, I believe I am.
I'm my own best friend. Does that count?
Of course it counts! You will never tell your own secrets.

I believe in spirit beings and therefore I think that some of these friends are not imaginary!
If that makes me mentally ill, so be it!

My best friends little girl had a "pretty Lady" who used to play with her. We never saw her but figured as long as Ella wasn't upset by it who were we to tell her what to think.
The "pretty Lady" didn't move with them to the new house a few months ago either.

NPR ran a couple of spots on kids and imagination last week. Seem that kids are too structured and dont get to imagine or make-believe enough now days as the toys are more than a prop for play.
The experts seem to think that lack of imaginitive play slows executive skills development that comes from the internal dialouge and scripting that kids do when making believe.
I dont remember any freinds.. but a 40 acre pasture and a cap gun or some sticks could keep me busy for days. My step kids panic if the lights go out... and we have weaned them from 'puters, etc in the last year or two.

I'm told I had an imaginary friend when I was about 2ish. I don't remember it but apparently my sister thought I was crazy...some things remain the same :) I'm of the opinion that it's pure imagination.

I had an imaginary friend from about age 3 to 6. Her name was Bendy. I honestly don't remember really believing she was real. I just liked pretending she was there. I'd make my brother and sister leave room on the couch for her to sit next to me. Sometimes I'd shape my favorite blanket into a 'person shape' on the couch and pretend she was under there taking a nap; and NO ONE was allowed to bother her.
I'll never live Bendy down. My dad still, on occasion, asks me "How's Bendy?" Ugh.
