Welcome to JWD Galileo!
(I'm amazed that in 7 years of JWD, you're the first to pick that username. Nice choice.)
You said:
For a time, I chose madness.
That describes me in my mid-twenties. Man I wish I could turn the clock back. I was almost out and dove back in mainly to save my parents from heartbreak.
Looking forward to Chapter 2.

Welcome Galileo
Just a thought Galileo.
Before you say submit post --- uncheck 'check here to use html formating' box and check 'automatic Cr/Lf' box.
If me does not do this --- what me submit is all one para. I am using iMac.
Thanks Ip_sec for formating his post.
And please Ip_sec when you see others of us making the same mistake --- please help.
In time we catch on ---- but in the mean time ---- well.
Again as me has said before
Me thinkin' me talkin' too much
Thanks -

Not Feeling It
I am sure it has been written about by many others, unfortunately, my experience is far from unique.
I'll risk being supercilious but I have a similar (untold as of yet) story. Mine was not as extreme as your which is why I still exist on the far extreme of JW-ness. So for that reason I'll stick to my anonymity.
I also was an early reader and precocious 4-year-old. My parents did allow me in intra-scholastic gifted programs from K up to 12th. But, any discussion of higher education was not discussed (and not funded!) despite pushing my so many teachers.
Glad to see you here. Looking forward to more insight and stories from you!

Galileo, welcome!
I was baptized at 11, you slacker! I'm another one of those gifted, 99-percentile JW kids who passed up college to bore myself to death starting a janitorial business.
Great story. I now make my living as a writer. Living well is the best revenge.
