Meet Me in WA This Week?

I'm flying into Seattle for a week-long visit with my son in Bellingham. My older son, a staunchly loyal JW, is coming with me for our semi-annual father-and-sons reunion.

I'd love to be able to meet any of you who live in the general area, although I don't know for certain that it could be arranged. My JW son does not shun me or his brother, even though I'm disassociated and the brother disfellowshipped. I don't want to do anything that could cause him to change his mind, so I don't speak to him of my involvement here. It's quite possible that he may know, but if so then apparently we've taken a stance similar to the American military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy toward homosexuality. Whatever the case, I don't rock the boat.

With that said: I'll have a rental car, and probably could excuse myself for an evening to go to "dinner with an internet friend" or something of the sort. It would really be great if several of you were able to arrange an outing together to meet and talk in person.

I'm flying in on Monday the 12th, and back home again early Saturday morning of the 17th. I'll be able to check the board and my email all along. Let me hear from you if this is possible!

    Yo, Mr Comf.

Well, no chance of me being in Seattle I'm afraid. However, a couple of nights ago I thought of you when Sky News started broadcasting live from Dallas. Some chappie was haring around driving an 18 wheeler that had the arse end on fire, he kept the police at bay for a couple of hours before coming to a stop.

I suppose the fact that you are posting right now means that you were not the culprit.

    C'est la vie!

Delightful as either prospect would be, what I'm picturing is a kind of impromptu Apostofest at an accomodating restaurant. You guys in that part of Canada aren't that far away either, from what my son tells me.

Here ya go, unk, never mind the thought--see it for real! What Texans do for constipation relief: http://killercartoons.com/texlax.html

I would never do that, hon. But I'll purposefully wait for you to come...

    Comf,

I wish there was time for me to be in Seattle to meet you. I live about 280 miles to the east in Spokane. Let me know if you plan on traveling east from Seattle. Hey maybe I could do a commuter flight. It takes less than an hour to get to Seattle. Anyone else game?

I've got your email addy, TR. I'll get in touch if we point ourselves in that direction. All's going well here; uneventful flight, and we're safely settled in. I'm having a late-night look at the board from my son's computer. I love this country. Texas is home, but my goodness, Washington is beautiful! And the architecture here is wonderful. The houses are so much more imaginative than the flat, dull dwellings that characterize Texas, with three and four stories, gables and turrets and crosswalks and all sorts of fancy extras that serve no purpose but decoration. And the verdant fertility of the place! Wooden and stone fences that grow green stuff. What a switch from dry old home!

    Catch you on the flipflop,

    Hey Comf ,

Glad to hear that you are safely arrived in WA. As for meeting up with folks from the board, I just returned from a Toronto apostofest and gosh, it was wonderful! So I highly recommend it, whenever possible.

Too bad WA is so far away from FL.....sigh...

    Have a great time!

I am a short trip from you but unfortunately desk-bound this week, but let me know next time you visit your son and we get together.
