Anonymously disclosing location

  I had an idea last night and thought I would see how others feel about it.

  I would just love to know if there are members of JWD in my area. Unfortunately like so many others I cannot give too much away as I am still "in" for family reasons. I was thinking, would it work if we created some of those maps where you can pin your location but do it anonymously (i.e not using our JWD i.d as a reference)? It wouldn't have to be as specific as congregation, just a region if people wanted. We could put up maps for the U.S, Britain, Australia, European countries, South Africa etc. It would be interesting to know just how many are out there and I thought this may be a convenient and safe way to go about it? Your thoughts?

  I know a couple of years ago (?) there was a map, although we used our JWD names for the most part. Maybe someone can show you the link as I have changed computers since then and lost the link.

  I wouldn't put my JWD ID on a map. It's just too risky. I thought this may be a safe way for faders to share location.

  I am sure you can put it on the map however you want to. Annonymous is almost as good as a JWD ID.

  I think generally most people who attend fests and/or don't mind people knowing where they live have the area in their profile. You might take note of that when posting to see if anyone is from your area. Other than that there was a map I believe ballistic posted with JWD id's and where they live.

  Thanks IP-Sec I added myself to the map. I hope there are people near me I may not know about yet. It's always nice to make a connection with people.
