...because they are so future oriented

Not to mention that it is an imaginary future in which they believe.

Hypocritical schpiel in a great deluge perpetrated by the WT has their best financial brains wasting precious ministry hours on $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

whilst they brainwash young teenagers to take up low paid jobs and knock on doors forfeiting their own financial futures!

They have such double standards - it is awe inspiring!

NATHAN NATAS- Yes indeed. It certainly is " Watchtower spew! " those phrases I used . Ick is right. It's the reason I was showing how deluded a view it is ! Thanks for the WT quote to verify it.

JAGUAR BASS- That rubber band therapy sounds great ! I'll have to do that to the next witness I talk to. Just take a rubber band out and put it on their wrist - if they get out of the here and now in their conversation , I'll just snap the rubber band on their wrist ! Brilliant !

DOGISGOD- I agree with you. The sooner the witnesses stop putting the junk in their minds and travel and see the world a little - a whole new world will open up to them that is actually real and fun to be in many times.

St. ANN- That is wise advice to plan for the future. Always a good idea to be ready- in a reality sort of way

    Good thread. Well put.

It's also why they can end relationships with their own kids.

'joehoohoo will make it all ok in candy land and we'll live forever, he'll make the painful memory of our kids leaving 'the troof go away.'

    bleh.

If you know what I have already on the end-tme era we live today they seem to be the most reasonable and smart people .

If you knew me personally and could learn from me what my eyes have seen and see you would pick up the stick and stand near the entrance to many a store and hit the shopping people with the stick for their craziness for what they buy.

Most likely no one on this forum has amassed more things than I did . You would need pills for heart attack before you could enter my place and see what I have ! To make it simple if I were to start all over again I would be much wiser in buying what I had bought.

Probably a few Bibles , a few other books ,a few notebooks , some other small items and one radio , one tv set and one computer and table with three chairs and a bed would do it !

Ah about abstaining from marriage . I have three sisters whose husbands died and two of them by marrying were going through hell in their lives especially one that is here in the USA. My brother lives with girlfriend and writes me of his horrible situation that seems to me as another hell !

My sister here tells me how it is good for me that don't have a wife ! Her son reminds me a prodigal son even worse of that !

I wish I had Jehovah's Witnesses as my neighbors . Do you want to know what does it mean not to have such come to me to my place and you will see another hell that is brought upon me by my neighbor living above me !

How good it is to expect the finality to the whole craziness of mankind that doesn't know God like Jehovah's Witnesses do !

VM 44- It truly is an imaginary future that witnesses believe in ! Typical " pie in the sky" fantasy.

    R. CRUSOE- Very true what you say. The Watchtower society does indeed waste young people's lives by demanding they waste time knocking on people's doors - thus only leaving them enough time to get a low paying job.

PIONEER SPIT- It is sad how witnesses escape to the future in their thoughts and sacrifice their relationships with their kids in the process, and some adult witness kids sacrifice their relationship with their parents who aren't in too . That's funny comparing the paradise to " candyland " ! LOL! That is exactly true. They feel God will heal all their pain in paradise . Brother.

OBVES- I'm sure you have seen a lot in your time friend. Although I do not agree the witnesses are the " most reasonable and smart people " as you said. They are deluded , misinformed , and under the influence of a " mind control cult ".

In regards to your comments on marriage - I think some people do better married , others don't . It's different for different people. I agree some Jehovah's Witnesses make good neighbors and are good people - but it does not make them " reasonable and smart " when it comes to being controlled in beliefs by the witness cult

    Hey Flipper,

I firmly believed all of the above and rejoiced to be an alien resident while awaiting the city having real foundations. And, too, I wanted to be like Moses, who despised the riches of Egypt and chose to be ill-treated with the people of God. It's an incredibly powerful hold on minds and hearts.

My question is this: are you familiar with the theory of disconfirmation? I am currently searching through my stack of stuff - Freeminds, books, websites, etc. I recall it's a psychology wherein the adherent grasps all the tighter to his cherished belief as its credibility unravels before his eyes. The biggest scapegoat/excuse is Satan (blinding the minds of the unbelievers).

I would appreciate any info you might have. The section (from a book) that I read has two authors, one of whose surnames begins with "F," I believe.

Now I'm really piqued! Thanks a heap, Flipper!

COCO- I think all of us at one time believed in the " pie in the sky " dream so to speak as witnesses , but we certainly were enlightened otherwise later, were we not ? As regards the disconfirmation theory, it is true that the more a cult members beliefs are challenged ; the tighter they will hang onto it in spite of being shown otherwise . As you said, sometimes they blame Satan for blinding the minds of the unbelievers . I wasn't familiar with the author of the books you were trying to locate , however I'll share with you what Steve Hassan stated about "cult members" and how they look at flaws in their beliefs when it is brought to their attention .

In his book , " Combatting Cult Mind Control" Hassan states, " Since mind control depends on creating a new identity within the individual, cult doctrine always requires that a person distrust his own self. The doctrine becomes the " master program " for all thoughts , feelings, and actions. Since it is the TRUTH , perfect and absolute , any flaw in it is viewed as only a reflection of the believer's own imperfection . He is taught that he must follow the prescribed formula even if he doesn't really understand it . At the same time he is told that he should try to work harder and have more faith so he will come to understand the truth more clearly . "

So, the witnesses are taught that if their is a doubting or assault on their beliefs , it's because they are imperfect and need more study to improve their understanding . They are told - the fault is in their imperfection, not the beliefs. In that way the Watchtower society continues to control them and dissuade any of them from doing further research - which we know as of September of 2007 they discourage members from doing anyway . So, the witnesses remain trapped in mind control. Vicious cycle they are in . Hope this helps a bit. So the witnesses feel forced to hang on tight to the beliefs - they are told everything else is false and lies

    Homerovah the Almighty

Your quite correct Flipper on the aspect of witnesses being over run with a delusion of reality and this in my opinion has the most damaging effect

in their lives with respect to their intellectual growth and perhaps any kind of social responsibility.

I think the best way to de-program the jw mindset is to present the facts that totally disprove that the organization is being inspired or that its be spiritually guided

by God but rather its only been inspired by men for themselves and their own personal endeavors.

With a dose of reality and a spoonful of the truth they can then lift that box off heir heads and join humanity in a more realistic and purposeful way to

    the benefit of all concerned.

Thanx, FLIPPER - you hit the nail on the head; I have Hassan's book but didn't think to look there. If I ever come across the other I'll let you know.

    Gratefully,
