A married sister had an affair with a single brother. Not only was the single brother and the sister DF'd but the husband was too. The charge? Not conducting a family study. Since when is that a DF'ing offense? By the way the single brother is the only one who has been reinstated. His uncle is the PO. Coincidence?

Maybe the lovers were caught in the act during the time that his family study was supposed to be going - and he counted the hour he watched from the closet? Now that might be a df'ing offense in some places. You are not allowed to count live porn time as service! Everyone knows that.

It is far more common than one imagines imo.

The number of incidents that do become evident are very significant and only serve to indicate the thin end of a wedge imo! After all we are not talking isolated people but a sample of millions in which sexual activities are rife and likely promoted by the oppressive dogma infiltrating marital sexual behaviour as if it were for recommended general discussions amongst those in authority as to how couples are getting it on!

I cant think of anything more divisive for any married couple!

What is common in your opinion? Are you speaking of marital infidelity or the innocent mate being disfellowshipped for not conducting a family study?

What a slap in the face...You find out your wife is cheating and you get df'd too? Who knows what these guys are thinking. What I know about congregational matters is lots of latitude in judgement is given to the local boe. I have seen many injustices since my folks were brought in back in the 60's.

I've heard of men being blamed for their wife's infidelity because they weren't being a good enough spiritual head. Although the blame and guilt was placed on them, I never heard of them being DF for it.

Even before I finished the paragraph, I knew some nepotism (I came up with the malapropism "nephewtism") was involved.

My instant theory: the husband refused to keep the situation quiet, and keep PO son's name half-way clean, and so they trumped up some bullshit on him. The congregation may have done something as simple as announce the disfellowshipping of slutty wife and wayward pastor's son on different days, thereby increasing the likelihood that the rank-and-file would not relate the two incidents. The vocal husband killed that option, and so he was "dealt with."

There is definately a lot more to this story...we have the Elder Handbook on pdf here in JWD and there is certainly nothing mentioned in it about the sin of no family study....because of course it is not one....so give us the REAL reason when you find out.......thanks......oompa

However, I was in a hall where a very prominent family/elders wife was DF'd, but her younger sister was to be married in less than three months....she actually got back in just in time to be in the wedding!!!!!!!!
