I must admit, the 30 minute public talk is more "improved" over the older version(s).
The next step should be to reduce the Watchtower study to 45 minutes. In that way, with songs and prayers, you are out the door in an hour and a half.

I agree totally.
The 30 minute talk is the right length. If it's dull, it will be over in no time. If it's good, 30 minutes is just OK.
As for the Watchtower Study, OMG, it's WAY too long. Either they could go less in detail and ask less questions or simply have less paragraphs to study.
The Watchtower study should also be 30 minutes.
For those who want to go out in the Field Service after the 1 hour meeting, it would be up to them.
I figure if they can get away with doing an abbreviated study when the CO visits, why not incorprate it to the regular Sunday meeting?

If we still are getting spiritual food without reading the paragraphs, then why not eliminate reading them all together. Or at least cut the study down to 10 paragraphs or so and be done with it. Let me be the first to say the public talk is still 30 minutes too long,
and the WT is 60 minutes too long.
All kidding aside:
The Watchtower study should also be 30 minutes.

That would almost normalize the JW's. Cancel the midweek meetings and you have a regular
church thing. It could happen in the future.

I dunno...
If they cancel mid-week meetings, they start to lose control over the sheeple. The main thing that keeps them going now is the control they have over their members. Keep them busy most every day of the week, instill fear and guilt and they've got them indoctrinated and controlled.
To "normalize" would spell the end of the religion. Not that I wouldn't mind that happening. I just don't see it happening.

They should just develop a chant that induces a religious stupor - chant it daily as they read the text. At least the little robots won't have to drive to the Hall so often.
I was in a church last week that does a hour 'teaching' each week. That was too long also. How many times can it be said "Jesus saves" before one just goes to sleep? At least the WTS uses variety. "The Organization saves" "Jehovah saves" "Service saves" "Prayer saves" "The Elders save" "The Faithful Slave saves" "The Governing Body saves"
They actually should say that Jesus saves once in a while - they usually leave that one out.

It may be shorter, but it's still crappy. Now it's just a bunch of bull in a compressed format.
They cannot cut out meetings. This would cause cash flow problems. Remember the quiet little oak box mounted near the exits?
Also, reading the paragraphs at the WT study is part of the mantra.
I could see dumping the school and combining the "Service Meeting" with the "Book Study" into one evening. If attendance keeps dropping at the book study, it would make sense to consolidate.
Better than shorter meetings, how about skipping them altogether! That's the best.
My opinion.
