I know what you mean, spanteach. I am just taking my Mom. She has health problems and otherwise wouldn't be able to go, because God forbid a witness to help her. That would take away from the preaching work.

Tired of the Hypocrisy
I am going. My Father in law needs a lift since his abusive wife
is putting on the big christian face and driving elderly sisters to it.
My wife missed last year, not because she wanted to. She has been bed ridden and is now being guilted by the family to go. Even her dad told me to get her there no matter what. He said that meetings are one thing, but the memorial is SPECIAL. I told him that we would see how she feels on saturday. He won't be happy to see just ugly old me to take him. I will go in and have a look around and share what I see whether it is different or not from previous memorials.

I didn't go but heard that numbers were slightly lower than last year - 25 less attended - but that may be because the memorial was at a later time this year.

What drudgery you all force yourselves into. Putting on a facade of righteousness, albeit for the appearance of those you love. One day I will have my opportunity to discuss the troof with my sons. Until that time, I will decline the whine and cheese party.

Yes, but you must surely realize, now that you've left, that many of those people simply love and respect their family enough to just suck it up and go once a year.
Not hypocritical as far as I'm concerned. Actually, quite loving in a lot of cases for them to make that sacrifice.

I stopped going to those things because they never have enough for everyone , a few glasses of wine and a handful of crackers with ( no cheese )
Who ever puts those things on really should open their wallets a little more and get some real grub, Oh and I always get the dirty look when I take half a cracker .....sheesh
