Alfred Hitchcock by a large (no pun intended) margin.
I agree with most of the above. I would add John Ford, Frank Capra and David Lean, all deceased. Living directors, Ridley Scott for sure. I think Scorsese is overrated. Eastwood is usually good although I didn't care for his two Iwo Gima movies.
Steven Spielberg.... all the way...!!
