What I want to know is, how do they manage to stretch "this generation" to mean Christ's disciples. If Jesus really meant, "You people who follow me will be no means pass away until all these things occur," then the words could've been written just like that, one would think....

The article is full of empty words and empty promises.

ASSHOLES
Quit beatin' around the bush and tell us how you really feel... LO! And I agree 100%.
I see now there's no room for the idea they were ever captives to any concept - it was a carefully laid construction. Degrees of variables were built in from the beginning, so there's an always evolving 'present truth'. No absolute truth like they deceivingly taught, just lies drifting this way and that in the slightest breeze. Truth doesn't need the aid of 'tacking in the wind', but their doctrines do. imho truth leads straight to the Christ - where do WT doctrines lead? Pretty clear now isn't it? They were the devil's own who conceived the deception, and devils that perpetuate it.
We were the captives, since they convincingly taught us that Bible study is to squint at the words through the WT-approved pinhole. And for some reason we really believed it... There's always a one-scripture answer to prove their authority and right-ness, and our focus was kept on the WTS, diverted from Christ.
I think it was all part of the journey, 'uninformed', and we're still walking away from JWism, step by step. And that's part of the Good News too, that we're captivated by them no longer - we've been set FREE! Thank God for that!

Really beautifully said.

The WTS is in total darkness by this reference.
Jesus set a 40-year limit on the things that were to happen from the first sign, which was a world war ("nation vs nation, kingdom vs kingdom") to the very last sign, which was the appearance of the "sign of the son of man" in the heavens. Other highlights for this period would be the "great tribulation" and the "end of the system of things" meaning the end of the gentile times, and the preaching work becoming international.
ALL that happened within the 40-year period of 1914-1954.
1. The "great tribulation" was WWII and the Holocaust. The "days were cut short or else no flesh would be saved" was a reference to stopping Hitler before he exterminated all the Jews. The two-thirds he did exterminate was prophesied at Zech 13:8.
2. The "good news" would be preached first, then the "end" would come, was fulfilled by the witnesses becoming an international organization by the time the State of Israel was set up, which happens at the "end of the gentile times" in 1947. So that was fulfilled as well. The WTS thinks the "great tribulation" is Armageddon, even though Matthew 24:29 clearly mentions the great tribulation is over even before the "sign of the son of man" appears: "Immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days..." The tribulation, focussed on the Jews and JWs was the Holocaust and WWII. How could the Bible mention signs about the last days which begin in 1914 and miss the Holocaust? the so-called "worst event in human history", especially since it was focussed on the Jews? Well it doesn't! It's a MAJOR SIGN, it's the prophesied "great tribulation"!!!
3. Finally, the sign of the son of man is something that appears to the "eagles", a small select group of anointed ones. The majority of the organization would be cast into spiritual darkness, depicted by the son, moon and stars becoming dark. This represents the time when the 10 virgins would all begin to nod and their lamps grow dim. Thus it is only the "eagles" that know the messiah who see this "sign" in the heavens. That sign began to appear when the second-coming messiah was born which occurs prior to 1954. Per Bible chronology, since he must be in his 40th year by the time the 70th week begins in the fall of 1989, means he would be born sometime between 1949-1950. Likewise, as the Bible says, the new State of Israel would have to be established first. This is represented as the fig tree that starts to bud. When that happens, "know that he is near at the doors."
In the meantime, though the messiah would be born between 1949-1950, the Bible indicates the absolute second coming would take place exactly 45 years after the end of the gentile times to fulfill the 1335 days. The 1290 days marks the end of the trampling of the Jews and thus the end of the gentile times. That means 1992 is the true date for the second coming. But the eagles follow the messiah from the time of his birth, even mourning over his "death" when he leaves God's house due to immorality, becoming the prodigal son, only returning just in the nick of time when it is time to become the messiah.
So all talk about the "generation" of 1914 not dying before Armageddon and all that is just more misguided understanding. Those who really are granted true understanding saw the fulfillment of this prophecy between 1914-1954, so that generation is over. Armageddon was not included within that generation, nor the second coming, just the birth of the messiah shortly after the set-up of the new State of Israel.
So the WTS may be confused and in error, but the Bible is true and fulfilled.

JC,
No offense, and I am glad you believe so strongly. But there is no proof for your conjecture.
