Memorial invitations didn't work in my congo. Did they work in yours?

Our cong distributed 8500 tracts and the attendance was down 13. Not a single member of the public came with the invite.

Imagine you follow the invitation and realize that it was some boring stuff you went to.

My wife went here is Aust. and there were 202 people, a bit less than normal. The growth is pretty stagnant in this country, most people I talk to don't know much about JWs and couldn't really care less about them.

I recieved one from my 'sister' 1100 miles away. My cong. did not give me one. (poor little inactive me) I called elder for ride. Was told I have to prove I want to be re-activated. ( car is not working, 5 miles from hall, it was snowing, i can hardly walk) So I listened on phone tie in and was told that is not really trying. No, but they are really trying,,, my patience.

Of course the Society don't really care one whit if the "invitation campaign" is successful or not. If success were their goal, they'd pick a different method than the utterly ineffective "Saturday morning door to door" approach.

It's just a busywork activity to hopefully stimulate some recalcitrant hangers-on to get started in the "preaching work", and give the R&F a feeling of specialness.

Another fine waste of people's time. Keep them busy with an urgent project and make it so everyone must go out all 3 weeks. Then, the REJECT Jesus party, followed by having to go back--again, to do regular field circus. I bet people are getting tired of that.

And for what? I never got my waste of paper (I did get a phone call, which I let my answering machine get). And it was a total waste of their time--I didn't go. Not only that, but I didn't lift a finger to help them with the waste-three-weeks campaign.

Here even some elders think it was a waste of time and money. Nobody came because of the invitation. The people that came was the same that always do: Family and friends.

The brother guy giving the talk commented on how nice it was too see so many present in response to the "invitation"

I looked around and saw between 15 to 20 empty seats. Interesting that all those invitations couldn't fill up a small KH.

In the 30 years or so that I have lived in this area the population has doubled in size but the KH numbers have remained basically the same.

The invitations were a big failure here but I am sure it got the hours up for the month which was their real goal.

I know it didn't work when they sent one to me. Instead of focusing on the stale, rehashed sermon, they could've put a positive spin on it: "Food, Wine and Live Music".
