These are the kind of talks (extremely speculative) that get jw's all freaked out about the end any day,

the little button in your head clicks in and the mind control takes over again.

When Gerald Ford became US President way back in the 1970's after the Nixon Watergate Scandal, one of the first things he cried out was this statement: "Peace and Security". This was on the front cover of every major newspaper.

I remember this statement as it was featured on the news channels also. It expressed a desire for peace as well as a belief that peace had been achieved.

This occurred at the same time as our wt convention here in New York at Aqueduct Race Track. The first speaker at the convention on the day this statement was made held up a copy of the headline and said" Did you see this mornings paper?! He then went on to rile everyone up about the so-called end of the world. In fact, the wt society continued to use that very statement as a prediction based on the scripture in Thessalonians.

That was over 30 years ago since that "Prominent" cry of peace and security and no end of the world has come.

So Gerrit Losch is wrong by saying that such a cry "has not yetoccurred". And again, no "end of the world", has come.

god and the "holy spirit" just keep on making mistakes.

I became associated with the Watchtower organization in 1952. Nearly every candidate and elected president used the expression "peace and security" as part of their political campaign and political speeches. And JWs would always point to this as "evidence" that this was in fulfillment of Paul's prophetic statements. 1 Thess. 5:3

The Watchtower Society has a history of using current events to justify their prophetic predictions. But it also is careful not to print material that could be used later to expose its errors. In these cases, they will usually blame members for reading too much in the articles or accuse the members of personal speculations.

But not too many years ago when discussing the "king of the north" and "king of the south" the Society clearly identified the Communistic bloc of nations led by the Soviet Union and the Democratic bloc lead by the U.S. as fulfilling this end time prophecy in Daniel. It also stressed that we were in the final part of the prophecy and were awaiting the "king of the north" to take the aggresive step to over run those democratic nations as described at Daniel 11: 40-45. It was understood by every JW that this was the view of the Watchtower Society.

Now, the silence of the Watchtower Society on the fulfillment of Daniel's prophecy is deafening. It is as if the Society never promoted its past interpretation. The only warning is not to speculate. Older members must have group amnesia to ignore this glaring contradiction.

"God's people" i.e. Jehovah's Witnesses, should have mention to his audience

some ... facts concerning the ' Educational Center , after all in the time of the end

why spending millions of dollars ...received as donation ...for what? Tell the

Jehovah's Witnesses in all the poor countries!!!

Bad economy = good time for churches to build

Worship and retreat facilities have been erected in growing numbers in a weakened economy where renovation and new construction projects have become scarce and labor less expensive.

And the entry of big-box retailers in recent years has pressured land owners to reduce their rents -- an advantage for church groups looking for properties to buy and facilities to build, according to commercial real estate agent William Jardine.

Jardine, who is based on the Big Island, said he has seen numerous church groups coming to town looking for properties to buy with the intention of establishing a worship facility or for business purposes.

"The whole aspect of being a church is extremely attractive. Churches have some flexibility in doing things they wouldn't be able to do otherwise," Jardine said.

But according to Nathan Wong, assistant to the branch manager at The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, there is a great need for these types of facilities.

Better known as the Jehovah's Witnesses, the society recently opened a $20 million, 130,000-square-foot facility at the Mililani Technology Park.

The group established an educational and meeting facility -- situated on 3.4 acres next to Oceanic Cable -- called the Watchtower Educational Center Pacific.

The center will house programs based on practical direction from the bible geared toward businesses and community organizations.

Because of its massive size, the group has been approached by individuals wanting to rent the site for personal events but Wong said the building will remain purely for bible educational meetings.

The center features a main auditorium large enough to fit 1,500 visitors, smaller meeting rooms, and a multimedia facility housed with the latest in electronic devices.

The group also provides resource handouts and seminars for a variety of issues such as sexual harassment and job-related issues -- services that are purely voluntary.

In fact, Wong said some businesses and community leaders have already ordered reprints of articles the group produced. "Our materials are not that religiously oriented," Wong said.

With fiber-optic capabilities, the center has the ability to hook up to other headquarters around the country and to colleges via the Internet.

The society received assistance from volunteers all over the world to help design and construct the building that was two years in the making.

"We're looking around to open possibly more sites in the future," Wong said.

And the society -- which has 300 members in the area -- is continuing its quest to build a larger presence in the Islands with its 24,200-square-foot two-story meeting hall being built at the former Ranch House site in Aina Haina.

The Jehovah's Witnesses -- who rely heavily on donations to operate -- purchased the 60,890-square-foot site for $3.6 million to build a facility for both prayer and education. Construction is scheduled for completion in October.

While education is on the minds of the Jehovah's Witnesses, La`akea Hawaiian Resort Co. Ltd. -- a subsidiary made up of businesspeople from a large corporation in Japan -- is proposing to turn a residential property in Kaneohe into a moneymaking venture.

The group plans to develop a private meeting facility for community use, including weddings, retreats and related activities at 47-477 Waihee Place in Kaneohe.

I found one sentence that I could agree with...

No, it's not reasonable.

All that talk is recycled crap from the 70s. Back then it was more convincing with "1975", the 'generation', the USSR 'king of the North' wanting to destroy religion, etc. Now, well, it's just "not reasonable".
