I think religion cause more trouble in the world than any other thing. So the only logical thing about it is. Men get a following, nowadays a few women are starting to get a following also

I will continue to sing "I'll Walk alone" But my best friend knows I TRY to follow in HIS footsteps....

Mouthy, I know you're a Christian and follow Christ. But I know many that feel believing in the ideals of Christianity is practically illogical.

    1. I think that it is logical for a person not to want to cease existing. Therefore religion gives that person a way to rationalize that they are not actually going to cease, but that death is simply a transport device. As far as I know, every religion transports you somewhere somehow at death. 2. When you think of how people are grouped (geographically, racially, by workplace, by income level, family, religion and by interest group) religion is one of the strongest binders because it has a list of requirements that people follow.

What aspect/facet of "religion" do you wish to focus on? "Religion" is a vast topic with an ancient history. Are you talking about doctrine? Are you talking about believers' psychology? Are you talking about relgious rites, rituals, and practices? Also, there's a point where "religion" blends in with "culture." I think it's no accident - it's by no means mere chance - that the word cult and the word culture are linked; the word culture has its first four letters in common with the word cult. I think it's no accident that the two words share the etymological root. [In using the word cult, I don't intend it in its negative, pejorative sense. I'm using the word basically in its sense of relgious worship in general, no negative connotation whatsoever]. And "culture" is found the world over, just as "religion" is.

What I find logical about religion is the need for some people to make sense of the world around them. We are inquisitive beings by nature, and when we see things in our world that follow certain patterns, we would like answers.

To me, religion is about "man" interpreting God and it is logical in itself. Now, the types of logic that some people use, becomes quite illogical over time in religion.

It is expected that people want something to believe in.
It is logical to expect that they will "pay" someone who provides something to believe in.
    Religion serves that purpose.

Many things within religion are not "logical."

The Bible is inspired of God. We know because it says so.
We know because of internal harmony- it's never wrong. Oh, you found an error?
No, you just don't understand what was meant in an ancient text.
God protects His Word, but men tampered with the Bible and took His name out
    or made scribal errors.

Faith is all that is required, but your faith will be demonstrated by works.

God is all-knowing, all-seeing. His creations are all perfect. The imperfection of Man is
his own because he sinned. Animals were not created with free will, but they are not perfect.
They get sick and die. Well, God didn't create them to live forever.

God loves his creation, but has wanted to destroy it- and has.
