Alpaca,
Yeah, I've only been here for about two weeks :p I have been kinda very carefully testing the waters with my mom. I'll bring up an itty bitty point every now and then if it happens to naturally come up in conversation. I surprise myself at how easy it is to slip something in. So far, we've talked about false dates, the Malawi/Mexico fiasco, the blood doctrine, pedophiles, and women's rights. While I can tell she agrees with me to some extent, she always finds a way to end the topic by saying that only some things may be wrong but the majority of the religion makes sense.
My dad, however, is quite the stubborn old man, and I dare not say anything to him. Though I did say something once about the watchtower article after the memorial, in that Jesus wasn't in there, and how it's strange that they would de-emphasize him, but he said that Jesus was in there as a baby. Wow, one paragraph, whoopdee frickin doo! It was during the meeting, so I really couldn't make the response I wanted.
This road of mind will definitely be interesting, and tough. But the JW boards, as well as a certain someone, is making that journey much better for me.
Just curious--how many Dubs/ex-Dubs have come to JWD in the last year?

One thing the Borg can not do is turn off the tap of information that is readily available on the net, its opening allot of peoples minds.
I've been here for a year or so and there does seem to be a few more newbies , and thats a good thing

I've been here 3 months. Mentallly out, physically in - for family. I have been lurking for a few months, it was the torrent of newbies joining that encouraged me to speak up.

Two months for me now...
I researched things for nearly a year whilst trying to avoid any "apostate" material - very difficult when the CD-ROM only goes back to 1950, and only knowing a limited amount of the society's history of false predictions and changing light.
After clicking a few links from Wikipedia I realised that there were some awesome places that could really help me find the articles I was after, and that the society was never going to guide me to their mistakes. I started furtively peeking at a few ex-witness sites, I started realising there was a lot of truth and a lot less bitterness than I ever expected to find... Very quickly I found JWD, but I couldn't stand not being able to check out usernames or the private section. So, of course I had to sign up. :-) -

Wikipedia is great, dubs don't feel guilt about reading it because it's not an apostate site but it's where I first learned of Ray Franz. Lots are probably coming here via Wikipedia.

I got out of the borg over a decade ago, but didn't become a full fledged apostate until just under a year ago, around the time I came to this board.

Man, you guys who have been on here for a relatively short period of time have been posting like crazy.
I can only assume that it is because you are just so "done" with the Borg that really need to vent.
Right on!!!
