I work for a car company- my plant makes automatic transmissions for about $250 each- total cost. However, if your tranny goes out in your car your local dealer will charge you about $3000 to install a new one. I think that all car companies have this kind of markup.
somebody tell me something interesting,

incubus - that's sweet. What a sharp little boy!
Sad Emo, my mother left me a little stash of old coins. They turned out to be worth enough to pay for a vacation for me. I think of it as yet another gift from my mother.
Chickpea, I had no idea - especially the orchid. 58 native species - it's easy to forget that there are orchids in temperate regions.
Flipper - I want to see the bigfoot print when you collect that - and a photo! Wish I could join you and your family in Lake Tahoe. I have to work that weekend.
Berylblue - did you come into some money?
Happy birthday BFD!
restrangled, that's why I luuuuv garage sales. Wish I could go garage saling with some of you folks!
Momz - great new avatar. As for the cockroach, all I can say is ewwwww.
LisaRose, I have some pottery, but I'm not knowledgeable. I collect green things that are in shades of green that particularly appeal to me! I have a nice shelf of green pottery.
Moshe, all I can say is sheesh!!! No wonder we're all broke.OK folks, the day isn't over yet. Keep it coming. Over 250 people have looked at this thread, surely more of you have something cheerful to tell us? Did you find a couple of quarters in the sofa? Did you find some leftover ham in the frig? did you find an old friend? Did you find a job? Did you find yourself near a casino and blow all your cash? Did you find a little lost kitty cat in your yard? Did you overhear some good gossip? Did you make something good for dinner? Did you get elected to be class president?

Also Sooner's little boy who is such a whiz kid in class is my precious grandson.I also have a 10 month old grandaughter named Chloe. Hope you don't mind this old grandma bragging a little bit.

That's brutal.

Dear Hortensia,
It may not mean much to the typical whiz-kid, fleet-of-fingers computer geekazoid, but it* surely has put a spring in my step.
*I have succeeded in paying most bills with free online services, which is good, as I can never seem to find a costly, first-class postage stamp (re: something called snailmail).
Don't they say that the best things in life are free?
Maybe that's stretching the point.

This time I have a great therapist and she has really helped me. Not interesting, but good news.
Here's some irony for you. I work as an emergency roadside service customer advocate in a call center. All day long I take calls from people who've left their lights on and need a jump start. Guess who needed one today, but doesn't have a membership for AAA? Moi. But a fella who works there very kindly gave me a jumpstart. That inspired me to come home and repair my biddy booster cables.

I've been working out with a personal trainer, and I feel like crying. I can't bend down to pick up anything off the floor, and getting on and off the toilet is a challenge.
In other news, Nvr, I'm a California girl big boy! Come up and see me sometime.
