If they make announcement in the KH that person is no longer a JW, do they treat them as disfellowshipped? They made annoucement for my friend that is no longer a JW, his girflfriend invited me to go bowling. I told her that I cannot do that because since I am a fader and I do not want to get caught since I have JW family ties. His girlfriend has never been a JW, she emailed me that he is not disfellowshipped, but he is no longer a JW, Do I have to avoid them in public places because I do not want to lose family ties? I told them we can do things together, but not in a public place. I would like to know how to explain it to her.

Yes, the new phraseology for disfellowshiping announcements is "So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's WItnesses."

Do you know the exact wording of the announcement? Was it no longer a "publisher of the good news" or was it "one of Jehovah's Witnesses"?

If the announcement was:

"asilentone's friend is no longer a publisher of the good news."

This announcement is for people who were publishers, but never got baptized. You can still go bowling without serious JW repercussions. Many JWs will look down their nose at you for seeking out "bad association" but that's about it.

If the announcement was:

"asilentone's friend is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses."

You can't go bowling without risking getting DFed yourself.
(Unless your friend also happens to be a close family member. Then, the Flock Book says the elders can look the other way if you're not really in their face about it.) This is the announcement made for baptized JWs who are either DFed or DA themselves.

If the announcement was:

"asilentone's friend has been accepted to Bethel."

You can't go bowling because Bethelites won't hang out with lowlifes like you.

Are you sure they can't go bowling? What if they don't speak to each other and no food is served?? I don't think the bible specifically forbids bowling.

Just a couple of years back, the wts wanted more privileges in Germany. The Berlin Senate criticised the the blood issue and the NO to voting. A responsible official told me that there will be changes on those issues. that was about half a year before it was in the wt. (So much to new light and FDS. A servant of Satan's beast knew about the "light" before any of the anointed I know did...)
Speaking to a former wt heavy, I found out that no jw was ever df'ed for voting, joining the military or politics, not even for taking blood. The announcement in those cases were not "Soandso has been df'ed from the christian congregation", but rather "Soandso is no longer recognized as one of jws."
This was done since a former witness sued the wts for df'ing him and separating him from his family because he wanted to serve his country and joined the military.
The wording at those announcements are very important!
If the jw is df'ed, it will say so in his files. If the jw is no longer recognized as a jw, he will still be carried as (inactive) member of the congregation. To the person the treatment will be exactly the same as if df'ed (shunning!!!), but legally to makes a vast difference. The wt can publicly say, "no jw was ever df'ed for taking blood".

There is a way out of this dilemma. If you do your bowling out of town, Brother Hounder is going to have a much harder time finding you. The further out of town, the better. Of course, that also means higher costs in time and gas to get there.
