In congos where they don't take the strictness of the org very seriously I think the JWs are having a good time in what in essence is a social club of religious minded people. I mean they don't really push silly issues like the beard ban, not going to universities, attire protocol, not being materialistic, shunning of family members, armageddon etc. They give in exchange a few hours of service to the org and that's it. Should bad bring the worse and they or their children come to require blood to survive they will get it and just say good bye to the org.
Complete families could do well socially under these conditions of substantial laxness (= reasonableness) but not part families especially if it's just mother and children. Individuals without any family members there and particularly if they are young will find the JW society a bitter disappointment, they look down on them at a time when they need strong emotional support (how treacherous of the JW society). They will be ignored and for youths whose sexuality is highly enhanced by abundant hormones and are unable financially to marry it may well prove like a slow trip through the flames of hell.
DID YOU KNOW ANY JWs WHO ACTUALLY LIKE BEING ONE ?

Tired of the Hypocrisy
Actually I know a few. My father in law has been baptized for over 50 years and he has truly embraced the ideals presented in the Bible. Not so much what the washtowel says but what the Bible says. He uses every opportunity to preach impromptu. He speaks in an overly loud voice in waiting rooms and such witht he idea of someone calling him on something so he can have a chance to speak to them about his truth. Not too long ago at the emergency room he was telling my stepson about no blood and an evangelical Christian lady came up to him and wanted to sway him to her line of thinking. They spoke for the batter part of two hours and she finally walked away telling him that she fully understood his point. She looked really wasted though, and he said he was glad that he had the chance to convert another one tot he flock. Although he agreed with me later that she seemed more worn out than convinced....Many of his family are LIFERS in the cult and they go on and on about how wonderful it is to go door to door and get mistreated for the the truth.....It is sad to me what passes for joy in that cult.

The JW's that I knew put on and still put on a good face. You have to fake it till you make it. They have reached zombieism.

mind my own
Yes, I thought there were quite a few that I knew. My parents being among them. There were definately those who were worn out and not so happy, I could tell that in my young years but there were always those really good ones, the ones that made the rest of us feel insignificant.

Oh Yes, there's a family at my old hall, (still there) that were so into the whole JW-ism... it made me sick. I swear they moved as a UNIT... if one did this or that, they all did... really quite eerie...
They love it, all of it.... but like Jaguarbass said.... They have reached zombism.

My wife, my parents and my daughter.
It gives them a social life and contacts around the world.
They can travel to many desirable locations and get 'love bombed'
Because I was never baptised, I am welcomed too. This may not last, but I am making the most of it. If anyone asks why I am not a JW, I have a pre-prepared patter that makes their heads spin.
Cheers
Chris
