Not good Orb, it kind of looks like you have two black eyes and a mustache

One thing that might help if take the picture that want to use and use a photo editing software to lighten or increase the color, blow it up a little if you like

then crop the photo around your face, save the picture of course as a jpg. and then your good to go.

Since the avatar thats used here is so small its a good idea to blow up the photo more than usual for this purpose ....good luck

One thing that you can do too is take the photo that you'd like to use and scan it , most scanning software has capabilities to crop photos , so you can

crop a square frame of your face, then perhaps brighten it a little through software.
