Hey ya’ll, I was thinking of the Watchtower/UN scandal the other day and came up with this analogy. So far on here I’ve heard the YMCA and the Vatican analogies, which I like also. Mine goes like this….

Lets just say that I’m a baseball agent and I take you on as a client. I tell you that you can play for any team but have NOTHING to do with the Dodgers because they have mafia ties, bad business dealings, and they push steroids onto their players. One day I’m informed by an acquaintance that they saw you on the local sports news (or the Guardian) at a Dodger batting practice, wearing a Dodger helmet (or UN) and a

“ Las Vegas 51s” (their AAA farm team) shirt (or DPI).

I do some further investigating and find that you have been playing for the “Las Vegas 51s” (owned by the Dodgers) for awhile behind my back. I read newspaper clippings and see you in pictures with Dodger coaches (or UN officials), at Dodger practices (or UN library facilities), Dodger charities (or human rights activities), and I even saw you dressed in a Dodger uniform in the dugout at a game (or UN hearings/meetings). I finally confront you after my research and ask you why you disobeyed me. First you tell me “oh I don’t play for the Dodgers, it’s just their “registered” AAA farm team.” I then say “well how come I saw you in a Dodger uniform in the dugout at a game“? You say “oh hehehe I never played in the game (or never claimed consultative status with the ECOSOC), I just watched it (or was at the UN meetings).

My last straw is when I say “AH HA!, but I saw you at batting practice, batting away with all the rest of the Dodgers.” You smirk at me and say “don’t worry, I was just improving my swing” (or using the UN libraries/facilities for information to help pre-empt the UN’s dealings with the Watchtower). After time, everyone keeps telling you that you’re a hypocrite for being a Dodger. You keep insisting that you only played for their farm team, and only got pointers here and there from them. I say “what part of have NOTHING to do with the Dodgers do you not understand“?

I see you get my analogy within an analogy. I used this analogy on a dub and he was dumbfounded, and his accomplice had nothing either...maybe it was TOO deep for them, I didn't think so. Gotta love it! Thanks for posting. Blessings.....

Good analogy, but no one is going to get it without those parenthetical explanations. It's a bit complex.

3d Witness' argument is that the Watchtower Society never said that they couldn't have anything to do with the superior authorities (governments), of which the U.N. is one. Nothing says JWs can't use government sponsored programs, etc. like postal services, court systems, Library of Congress, schools, and the like. Why could they not therefore, use the U.N.'s library and benefit from human rights activities, etc. How would you respond?

The Watchtower "leaders" have always said that the UN is the "scarlet colored wild beast" described in revelation.

Having any kind of affiliation with this beast will result in death during Armageddon or face disfellowshipping from the group,

The WT is the biggest hypocrit on the face of this earth, aside from being liars.

Avengers - I'm just hoping noone hits that pussy on your face!

The 'We Want You' Tower will leave you in no mans land lying in trenches united with your own foot in your mouth!

They like to bring everything together like that!

Shawn wrote "Good analogy, but no one is going to get it without those parenthetical explanations. It's a bit complex." I do agree with you that this analogy is a little much. When I talk to the dubs, I shorten my version to make it much more simple.

Ya I've seen the argument on here with him and the UN thing. The dubs like to say "render to Caesar what is his" as an excuse. They like to say that yes the UN is indeed a government. Unless you give direct taxes to the UN, it's not the Caesar in context of what Jesus was speaking of. Make THEM explain what part of the beast they are not to be a part of and what does it mean to take the "mark"? I have other ideas but this is all I'll write for now. Blessings.......
