I really don't see the big deal. I cut out all five meeting years ago.

It may give some a chance to 'think,' (some self-thinking) to catch their wind, read a good interesting book, kids to have fun, even a stimulating television program (better than a dull same old-same old mind-control program). Mind control programs thrive on 'frequency' of their program (even commercialism knows that). Hopefully this will give some God-given personal time for those inclined.

Usually they don't announce important things like that on a Sunday, when plenty of Non JW's attend...

Just another way the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger acts to guarantee field circus from each and every publisher. It adds up: If they go out in field circus at 6 and stay out until 9, that is 3 hours of field circus per publisher. And, they might be less inclined to spend 2 3/4 hours at Starbucks at that time. Plus, people are going to be home, making those long streets of no one at home not possible.
It would still mean rushing home to get ready, instead of a boasting session, for field circus. The evening would still be tied up so people could not go to classes or watch those prime TV shows. And children would still be held up past their bedtimes, now 2 nights a week instead of one (they might not get in from field circus until after 9:30 instead of from the boasting session at 8:45 or so).

I don't expect the Book Study nights (Tuesday or whenever) will become field service nights but to a small %, pioneers, maybe some elders. Even back in the 60's very few (lonely) loyalists went in service in the evenings, like pre-book study nights and that didn't last.

Holy Moses, what's this about a special announcement? Someone fill me in, I just stumbled over fifty different threads talking about book study changes when I came in the door just now.
LMAO.....
