    Wings-

This is just my thought, but I think the very root of the large issue is that it is sometimes hard to not accept things as they are.

We are human beings, designed and 'built' with a need for guidance and authority from a greater being than ourselves, that being being God. That's just the way we have been created... no two other ways about.

Think honestly (as i'm sure you often do), why does is it seem SO hard to depend on JUST yourself. Could it be that it is because you were simply not created to do so? Could it be as simple as that?

If you can accept this, then you may be able to accept that God is the way He is because HE is. That's why he is called Almighty, because He is and not only has given himself the authority but has the power to do anything, it's just the way it is, you cannot change that however we might find 'alternative' ways of thinking.

God is fear inspiring, absolutely. But He rewards loyalty %100 percent of the time. That is why those that cling to him find peace and inner joy despite any crisis, despite that fact that He also takes action on the wicked.

Free will exists because Jehovah God wants us to love him out of our own self and heart, not because we have to. That does NOT mean however that he has not 'built' you with a 'need' for Him. When our actions don't lign up with that 'need', there is confusion, sadness, emptiness, anger, and so forth, because it is not natural.

Jesus himself went thru incredible pain and death so that we may continue to have the option of having such a relationship with Jehovah. Think about it, had it not been for Jesus, we'd REALLY have no hope or even a CHOICE like we have now. You can argue that Jesus extended that choice.

So meditate on it. There is nothing wrong with searching for this answer, remember that Jehovah is who He is and that will NEVER change. And remember that his son Jesus made possible a choice for us.

    Wings,

    I sympathize with your struggles.

The reality is this. We will all die, and that soon enough, without ever having answers to the questions of our existence, or for that matter God's existence. If you find that hard to believe, look at the lives of the greatest thinkers, the philosophers, the scientists, the theologians during the past thousands of years. What empirically sustainable answers did any of them leave that truly answers questions regarding the mystery that lies at the root of human existence? None.

You will die, as all of us on this Board will without answers, and become part of this earth, gradually solidified into a rock mass on which future generations will stand and wonder too about these questions. We come from a WTS background in which every question was answered for us, and presented to us manicured and lifeless. The problem is that all the answers were and are suspect. and have proven unreliable. That is why the WTS teachings of today are so vastly diffeent from even fifty years ago.

The fact that we have no answers is liberating because it allows you to concentrate on the moment. To enjoy the rhythm of a hummingbirds wings, to take to heart the strangers smile, to delight in the joy of moments. Life is made up of moments. Add together the moments that an average human is truly happy in their lives and what do you have. Three weeks? A month of true happiness? The rest is drudge and turmoil - UNLESS we control life rather than have it control us.

Just for a year, stop expecting answers and focus on living the moment and enjoying the moment for what it is. Time is the currency of life. The moment I stopped expecting answers regarding the existence of God, and the afterlife, whether Christ really existed or not, was the moment that I truly felt that I was living.

OK - on the other thread when I said I was in love with Hillary I was just joking. After reading that I may really be after all. LOL Very eloquent Hil. Wings darlin', we've talked so you know I'm a bit whacky. In all honesty I have NEVER been happier in my life than the last 10 months. I have slowly realized how exhilarating it is to depend on me and only me. Enjoy moments, as Hil said, and look for the simple things that can make you profoundly happy if you just accept that we'll never have the answers.

INDIGO GIRLS LYRICS "Closer To Fine" I'm trying to tell you something about my life Maybe give me insight between black and white The best thing you've ever done for me Is to help me take my life less seriously, it's only life after all Well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable And lightness has a call that's hard to hear I wrap my fear around me like a blanket I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it, I'm crawling on your shore. I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountain There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in crooked line The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine. I went to see the doctor of philosophy With a poster of Rasputin and a beard down to his knee He never did marry or see a B-grade movie He graded my performance, he said he could see through me I spent four years prostrate to the higher mind, got my paper And I was free. I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountain There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in crooked line The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine. I stopped by the bar at 3 a.m. To seek solace in a bottle or possibly a friend I woke up with a headache like my head against a board Twice as cloudy as I'd been the night before I went in seeking clarity. I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountain There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in crooked line The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine. I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountain There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in crooked line The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine. We go to the bible, we go through the workout We read up on revival and we stand up for the lookout There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in a crooked line The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine The closer I am to fine The closer I am to fine

    Jehovah's Witness Agnostic

well A@G - this may well really catch on. Jehovah's Witness Agnostic

Kind of like all those people that claimed they created the HBH (home-but-hiding) for territory slips except you would actually have coined it.

I have to say that defines me right now. In fact, I would say this defines a lot of JW's. They go because their family and friends do and know nothing of the bible, just outlined monthly presentations to hand out magazines.

    Still.........

It is hard sometimes to depend on our self when we are no used to it. If god is not there then you have always depended on yourself, the god thing was only in your mind. An other thing is being part of an org. for so long that has always though you how to think and to act ( just look at Malkiel's post!) that when you are no longer dependent on them it might become scary sometimes when we don't have that security blanket and the responsibility of taking a decision falls 100% on us can be overwhelming.

    Beautiful post Hillary.

    Thank you.

You were getting dangerously close to "Cuddly" there for a second.
