Is the Bible REALLY the "Word of God"?

Hey Paul, how're you and Claire? Sam and I are fine, looking forward to the second of our two boys going off to Uni' in September!
but that doesn't mean I don't envy the comfort that the people who do beleive it can find from reading it.
False comfort.
I've given up the security blanket mate and I no longer envy those who have it. Just a few months ago my cousin died (inactive JW) and I could see how much comfort his believing relatives drew from the resurrection hope. I was genuinely happy for them that they had what they needed. Even so, I don't want it.
Reality may be cold and hard sometimes but it is the real life, the only life there is after all.

The understanding of the Bible I present in my posts is the proof . Read why any Bible must have 66 books at least and how these books can be aligned in groups which in turn determines the end-time chronology.

Blinkered ignorance founded on breathtaking egotism and an almost drunken sense of self importance. Obves, your constrained and narrow-minded world view is mitigated only by the howls of laughter you inspire in others.
You should work on a stand-up routine.

Ironically we can look at Jesus words when he spoke of truth being in you!
Your 'Bible' or god is within you!
Books of men are mere relics of humanity!
Learn what you wish but do not deny the god within by making the whole life mistake of using a book for a brain!

The Bible is fine, though not infallible in my view its essence is sound. After so many centuries of copying and recopying and translations no doubt some errors occured also some fake verses were introduced.
But overall the existence of a creator God and a saviour as a reconciliator of man and God and the promotion of a spiritual culture are valid. -

Nic, haven't you read 1 Tim 3:16? What more proof do you need? :)

Anyone who believes that ANY of the 'holy books' were written by or inspired by an invisible magic man who lives in the sky is delusional and a fool...

Sure, why not? I don't believe in that god, anyway so it doesn't matter if it's inspired by IT or not. Some of the Bible writers appeared to be on acid or weed. They were really floating! How many poets of that time got their inspiration from a pipe?

Bring the light,
It was only the tree of the knowledge of good and bad that was forbidden to eat. The tree of life was not forbidden. Because they ate from the forbidden tree, they were not allowed to eat from the tree of life. There was only one tree forbidden, not two.
I don't believe in the Bible, but there is that point of the story.
