I am watching this documentary at the moment called "Jesus Camp". Evangelical christians in America put there kids into this camp. A woman preacher just came on and screamed, "if Harry Potter was alive in the Old Testament he would be put to death!".

My first reaction was to think, "you evil b*tch". But then thinking about it she's right. Some may remember a thread i started, referring to Richard Dawkins view of the wickedness of the God of the Old Testament. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/151311/1.ashx

Harry Potter would be definately been dealt with in the most extreme ways.

I wonder how J.K.Rowling would have been dealt by the Israelites. Any thoughts?

When HP first came out and I had the first 2 books, my nephew was about 6-7 (JW) he looked at them like if I had satanic books in my house, I asked him if he ever read it and he said no not suppose to, I said too bad they are great books. If Harry Potter was alive I think he would take Voldemort over the Witnesses

As long as he wasn't living as an alien resident in Israel he'd be ok. The Hebrew mission wasn't to purge the earth of witchcraft, it was just to keep Israel (and Israelites) "clean".

Plus, they had state-sanctioned magicians: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urim_and_Thummim

If the power of Real Sorcery existed in Babble times it would easily overturn the altars of the stone age death god.

There was another form of sorcery consulted by the Kings as well as Urim and Thummim. The Ephod.

Yes, it's amazing how much trouble can caused by not recognizing a fictional character as such.
