I looked up "Bethel" in the Insight book ane this is what they said on page 297:
"Bethel continued as an idolatrous sanctuary till the fall of the northern kingdom to Assyria in 740 B. C. E. Thus Jerimiah, over a century later, could refer to it as a warning example to those trusting in false gods to their eventual shame. Jer 48:13"
Jeremiah 48:13:
"And Moab shall be ashamed of Che-mosh, as the house of Isreal was ashamed of Bethel their confidence."
