It didn't take me long to start using the best substitute of all....THE BORG!!!!!!
Why do many of us keep refering to IT as "THE TRUTH"?

I never did, but some of my EXJehovies sometimes still call it that I look at them with my evil eye, and say it's the Trough not the truth.

I'm with Galilleo. I stopped using the term when I was an active JW! There were even phrases in the Kingdom songs I refused to sing. I NEVER use it anymore. I agree - it's like nails on a chalkboard to hear it.

I tend not to use the expression. For a time, I resented the term apostates, but as things have lost their mental significance for me it's not such a big deal now.

Out of habit? When I do I put quotes around it though.

I only use the phrase here so that new ones get my point. Real life I don't utter it.
Cheers!

I nearly fell out the first time I heard hubby use that phrase. This was exactly the type of cult-like language I had been steeling myself up for. "She's only been in the truth a short time" he said. I snapped- "The truth?!!! What is that supposed to mean?!" The reply was something like "if you're saved then you're in the truth". "So all Christians are in the truth?" I asked- "basically, yes" he said. Shows that he was never fully indoctrinated. Thank God!! -Potential

Just an expression we've all been using for X amount of years.
No biggie to me.
Actually, I just used it 5 minutes ago on another thread.
